MARTIN GETS A RUDE AWAKENING AT ANNOUNCEMENT

Martin Arambula and his supporters were expecting a better reception when they chose the front of the judicial wing of the  Cameron County courthouse to make the announcement that he was running for the Democratic Party nomination for county judge in 2014.
First, no one thought of bringing an electric generator to run the microphone and speakers. They thought they could just plug the line into the electrical outlets in the buildings.
And then, when they tried to place a political banner, they were told that the unfurling of partisan signs on the buildings was a no-no.
To his credit, Armabula – a Port of Brownsville commissioner and Brownsville Independent School District employee – grinned and bore it and played on like a good trooper. Bu these perceived slights didn't sit well with his supporters.
"Someone in the county is trying to make things hard for Martin," lamented an Arambula supporter. "I remember other candidates making their announcements here before and they never had any trouble just plugging in the light outlets."
The courthouse security, now under the jurisdiction of Constable Abel Gomez, apparently doesn't allow for providing security past the 5 p.m closing time and may have never been told that Arambula was going to make the announcement there after hours.
However, county insiders say that it is no secret that Pct. 2 commissioner Ernie Hernandez – whose daughter Erin Hernandez Garcia ran together with Gomez in the last election – may have had something to do with the less than warm reception Martin got at the courthouse at the 5:30 p.m. Thursday coming-out event. Hernandez is said to favor the candidacy of Sylvia Perez-Garcia, the Cameron County Democratic Party chairperson in the upcoming judge's race.
"She is at his office half of the time," said an Arambula supporter. "I wouldn't put it past him to have county security make things hard for Martin. He want her elected so he can have control of the county."
It has been said before that if you want to know who your ancestors were, all you have to do is run for office and someone will let you know.
Well, El Rrun-Rrun was the recipient of a graphic which would seem to show that Martin frequents an adult Internet site. The graphic indicates that Arambula visits the site where younger men seek older male partners has begun to make the rounds. Without actually going into the site, we can only take the graphic at face value. Is it real? Or is it Photoshop?
However, given the frosty reception at the courthouse, this may be the last thing that the Arambula campaign needs to deal with as he sets about to court the county's Democratic voters.
