That's right, Loony Lenny Perez, Browntown's Fearless Fire Chief. As the account below explains, he is at it again stealing valor and leaving out the firefighters who perform their duties and risk their lives on a daily basis.)
If you ever try to get Emergency Service Workers a chance to get media attention or recognition for their work they typically shy away from it and just say "We are just doing our job".
After reading about this event in the Brownsville Herald, our local Fire Fighters were astonished that we were not informed in our department about such a beautiful and significant dedication to those that we consider our heroes.
On behalf of the Brownsville Fire Fighters Association, our apologies to the community for the lack of on and off-duty Fire Personnel at this very much appreciated honor for our fellow brothers and sisters in Civil Service. God bless all fallen heroes and their families.

We all respect the first responders, the police, the firemen but when the first responders use that respect to leverage political power in their favor....I am opposed to their unions and their expectations of political power from their union. Lenny remains our version of Guilllermo and seems to be another local idiot who has assumed too much power for his brain to handle.

WAIT!!! Are you saying that a ceremony was held and the Fire Fighters were not informed of it?? WTF!!! Why is this person still a Fire Chief ?? He has done nothing but embarrass the City of Brownsville and the Fire Dept. Who is his boss?? That person needs to be replaced as well, sounds like a whole new administration is needed, how can the Brownsville Fire Dept continue to be the laughing stock of the valley ?? Is the city going to wait until something bad happens ( god forbid ) a Fire Chief who keeps his Dept in the dark about something such as this ceremony, who knows what else he has taken credit for , I have known several Fire Chiefs all over the State of Texas that fight fires with their men to show they are true fire fighters Before they are chiefs- , all union BS aside , but I'm sorry City of Brownsville Texas I feel sorry for you, just knowing that you have a Fire Chief that is so shallow and heartless, I hope you guys have all the equipment you need to do your job?? I would be afraid to call for an EMS under this Chief .
Lenny "Guillermo" Perez is a joke. He is loyal to only himself and pops up (sort of like Sheriff Omar Lucio) to take credit for his officers actions and to let the public know he is alive. Otherwise, Lenny, like Lucio, hides away afraid of their own shadow....or their own stupidity.

His son is a freak aswell. Lives at an apartment complex on Wildrose Ln. He's always looking at little girls and the tenants know him for going outside at night when he's drunk and exposing himself.
I heard Lenny likes prostitues and tranvestites. Maybe this is why he is drawn to this woman. She qualifies for both positioins. Wasn't he suspended for a day with out pay for soliciting a prostitue in Harlingen, TX? Maybe a Public Information report on this Juan could reveal his lust for Prostitues. FYI they say he was in full uniform when he was arrested.
Lanny refused to send men and equipment to the roof of the colonial hotel. Engine 3's crew (2 men) found the source of the fire. Peres ordered the captain and firefighter off the roof. The captain refused and supplied his own equipment without additional manpower. Lanny used 2 aerial streams to the point of nearly causing building collapse. He was interim chief and scabler rewarded him with chief (no interim).
Boy, I pray Brownsville does not experience a disaster due to the Fire Chief's ineptness and obvious disdain for our firefighters!

The chef micromanages fire scenes without appropriate personal protective equipment. Any firefighter not wearing gloves and gets a cut hand is quickly disciplined via lengthy suspension. Maybe he is still looking for the dead body that turned out to be soiled diapers on top of the fort brown.
