IS CAPTAIN BOB TOMANDONOS EL PELO?

By Juan Montoya
Every once in a while some enigmatic caption is added to the marquee in front of Capt. Bob's restaurant on Price Road.
When it's not a stuffed mako shark (the fish is real) dangling from the sign, it some enigmatic saying like the one there now.
A rough translation for "Los que no esten pelones no valen melones" is something like, "Those who are not bald, aren't worth melons."
We know business is rough, but does this mean that Bob has discovered some niche of the population that will sympathize and commiserate with his thinning pate and come in for some seafood?
Or is it some kind sublime gesture toward that fellowship of middle-age men who find their head balding just like grandpa's when he started losing his hair, a kind of in-you-face defiance against those who might make fun of bald men?
Hard to say. Maybe he's just gone wacko. Next time we go in for the all-you-can-eat fish and shrimp on Tuesdays we'll see if we can get an answer from the Cap.

Is the Captain from la Southmost or has he been reading La Southmost page on Facebook? Maybe he just is tired of people making comments about his shiny dome y pues he has reached that age cuando ya todo te vale v***@.
