Various Sources
More than 800 parents of students in the Brownsville Independent School District attended the 'Welcome Back Parents' Fair hosted by the district's Parental Involvement Department at the Brownsville Events Center on Paredes Line Road.
A host of health service providers, local state and federal agencies including the Cameron County District Attorney's Office participated in the event to inform parents on the various support services available to them and to their children. The event has gained wide popularity over the years and school officials we spoke with said they were pleased with the turnout despite the threatening weather.

I was there. It was a good event, very informative. Way too many people for such a small place (events center) Does anybody use the Jacob Brown anymore?
We have over 50,000 students in BISD....but only 800 parents cared enough to attend this meeting. WOW!
While BISD was hoping to "inform" parents, what kind of freebies were given out....food, etc. Seems the only thing that can get most parents into the schools is "freebies". They are quick to complain about "failures" by BIDS, but few parents in Brownsville give a shit about education...they just want baby sitting care and free food for their kids. Obama would be happy that BISD is indoctrinating so many future Dumbokrats.
