Get your checkbook out. Ernie Hernandez is having a fundraiser and judging by the prices for sponsorships, it will be a roomful of people with mettle who will make their appearance there on his behalf.
It could be wishful thinking, of course, but we're sure some vendors with the county will venture into Joe Kinneys' pub and plunk down their $5,000, $2,500, $1,000 and $500 to rub elbows with Ernie and his entourage.
But what exactly does one get for $5,000?

Someone sent us this doctored pushcard they got for Ernie's fundraiser tonight and even with the misspelled word (acquaintance), it was witty enough to include on this post. These days the Hernandez clan is feeling the heat as they writhe under the magnifying glass of public scrutiny. With Erin Garcia Herandez's JP marriage records under a grand jury subpoena, a federal lawsuit just filed against her, her brother Ernie III and a contemplated examination of her office finances, it's enough to make the group jittery.We wonder, will any of the night's intake be used for a legal defense fund for the Hernandezes?
Erin and Ernie III's marital woes have already been the subject of public comment here and in other blogs, so they have plenty to worry about in their private lives as well as their efforts to curry favor with the voters and get back into public office.
A commenter wrote that "I’m going to sponsor the Bronze. I might get 2 hot dogs with my $500.00."
Said another: "No tiene verguenza. What can he possibly give of food worth $5,000.00 or $500.00 at Cobbleheads? Maybe he will spend $200.00 worth of food and give a refill of water."
The season of mean is with us with less than six months to go until the Democratic primary.

Obviously the announcement by Alex Dominguez has scared Ernie into campaigning for the big bucks. What will the donors get for their contributions.....free marriages from Erin, more free marriage waivers by Erin. Or will the campaign money just go to bail out Ernie from his problems with the IRS and now the litigation by the couple who are in trouble with the Immigration Service because Erin broke the law to marry them. Ernie is in financial, legal and political trouble. I will be a no-show for this pachanga....hopefully everyone will avoid it.

What do you expect to get for a contribution? A job, walk away from a crime without prosecution? In a perfect world you contribute because you think the candidate is the one most likely to do the job, whatever office it is, competently and fairly and not use the position for political pay back or patronage. If you contribute to a candidate because you think or hope you will get personal benefit in return you are part of the problem.
Lets see, Saenz asked for his fundraiser $50.00 and included Fresh Gulf Shrimp with its fixings, Drinks, music. Ernie has what for $500.00? What will he give for $5000.00 his wife?

Cameron county is turning into a septic tank for the valley. Some rich folks depend on the public coffers and politcal whores to help them get it. When they achieve their goal they move to Hidalgo county. Those the think they hhave gotten away with it will catch hell in the end. So let's save a few souls by putting political garbage where it belongs. Put your money on a candidate that has at least a chance of proving themselves and teach the political status quo about who is really in control.....the people.
