We noticed that more than one head was turning near the intersection of McDavitt and Boca Chica where – across from the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise – a blonde in a mini skirt seemed to be holding a sign announcing that the business there was buying gold (and Rolex watches, too).
Alas, it was not so.
Instead, it turned out to be a mechanized mannequin perched atop a pedestal promoting the business. We have seen people dressed as gorillas, shrimp, Ms. Liberty, Uncle Sam, and even some holding huge foam hands pointing to the business as attention getters. To be honest, this one seemed to catch most motorists' eyes the most. It caught ours.
All that glitters, we guess, is not gold.
