MAGALLANES' LIMAS NEXU$$$ COMES BACK TO HAUNT HIM

By Juan Montoya
When Juan Magallanes barely beat attorney Gloria M. Rincones with 122 votes for the Democratic Party primary of 16,228 votes cast in the county, observers were amazed at the closeness of the election.
In fact, Magallanes seemed to have everything to carry off a landslide victory. He had been the Cameron County Democratic chair, had been a law partner with current Texas Democratic Party chair Gilberto Hinojosa, and had connections with most of the heavyweight contributors to political campaigns.
In fact, Rincones stayed away from pointing out the obvious close relationships between Magallanes, Limas and Hinojosa and still came perilously close to winning.
Nothing, it seemed, could knock Magallanes off his high horse.
The first shot across the Magallanes bow was the Oscar Garcia ad you see on the right margin of this page. The ad reminds readers that Magallanes loaned Limas $30,000 while he was a sitting judge. The ad continues and states that "Magallanes is not part of the solution, Magallanes is part of the problem." (Click on link on ad to see for yourself.)
Well, we couldn't remember when Limas made that statement so we looked it up and found out that it was, indeed, true.
A Brownsville Herald report by Emma Perez-Treviño lists Magallanes as one of the attorneys who did personal business on the side with the convicted judge while he was sitting on the bench.
In her report on June 7, 2012, with Limas on the stand in his racketeering case, he admitted that Magallanes, among others, had given him loans. In that case, Limas testified that he gave Magallanes 1.3 acres of land in Fort Bend to pay off a loan of $30,000.
In fact, the Limas-Magallanes relationship goes back much further. In an April 3, 2011 article, Emma wrote that Magallanes was one of four Brownsville attorneys who helped to secure a loan to allow Limas to finance his 2000 campaign.
In her article, Emma said that, aside from contributions, "A good portion came from a $25,000 loan that Limas secured from the International Bank of Commerce. Four Brownsville attorneys and a relative put their names on the line for Limas, each guaranteeing $5,000 of the loan. These were not reported as campaign contributions, and individually they exceeded state limits on contributions to judicial candidates.
The attorneys were Ernesto Gamez Jr., who was Limas’ campaign spokesman; Leonel Alejandro, now (then) judge of the 357th Judicial District; and former Cameron County Judge Gilberto Hinojosa’s partners at the time, Juan Magallanes and Eddie Treviño, now (then) former Brownsville mayor, with the then-law firm of Magallanes, Hinojosa and Treviño."
As if that wasn't enough, Garcia's link to his ad have attracted comments from others. One, in particular, has piqued people's curiosity. It is from, interestingly, none other than current Brownsville Independent School District board counsel Baltazar Salazar who alleges that Limas issued orders that went against a jury decision that put $100,000s of dollars into Magallanes' pockets.
"This (the Magallanes $30,000 loan) came a few months after a Cameron County jury awarded Magallanes nothing, zero. Limas then on his own awarded Magallanes $195,000 in damages and $50,000 in attorney's fees..."
Those who have read this blog know we're not Salazar's greatest fans, and in fact, have called for his termination from BISD. But this allegation – if supported by the record – would be enough to raise serious questions about this apparent quid-pro-quo in this case between Limas and Magallanes.
We're in the process of looking up the case in question and will follow up on the accusations on future posts.

Luis Saenz and his ex FBI guys are full of shit. They go after little fish and leave Luis Saenz's friends continue to rape and steal. Oscar De La Fuentes admitted to a bunch of crimes that would merit the D.A.'s office to prosecute him and take his license , but nothing from our D.A. what about Eddie Trevino? Limas said that he gave him bribes, but nothing from our D.A......the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Magallanes will never leave the shadow of his ex law partners Gilberto Hinojosa and Eddie Trvino. You actually think that he did not profit from his ex law partners' dealings? You are idiots if you vote for Magallanes,

He loaned him some money, and he collected the collateral. That is how our sustem works. You can't imagine how many crooks Wells Fargo loans money to, and if they don't pay the bank collects the collateral.

Line burger got the contract with the county and school district simply by greasing Palms like the Gypsies .

Stop saying it was a bribe. It was not a bribe. It was a payoff, Limas cut.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Magallanes' actions and Ray Marchan? Ray claimed it was a loan, too. Wish feds would prosecute this joker, because we know Saenz won't.

As far as the DA's "Public Integrity Unit," is it still operating? Haven't seen any results, outside of letting Ernie Hernandez get away, and apparently his daughter, too. All that tough talk by Saenz about cracking down on corruption was just talk. Next election he can walk the talk right out of office. Saenz is not a solution, he's part of the problem.

Aye poor little Peptio Limas. Now he has two little calabazas on his chin each morning and a little special sauce in his third-world ass. Let this be a lesson to third-world scum that when Whitey comes down to the RGV, your little maggot compadres won't be able to help you - they also will be getting their little nutsacks handed to them also. Waiting for more turds to be flushed in the future. Viva la rata!!!

The public integrity unit was last seen asking direction at a raspas stand in Southmost. It seem they were hot on the trail of a public employee that they saw throw away a receipt at a Stripes and they want to know why.

Noe Garza while defending Marchan asked FBI agent Gripka about other loans made to Limas and asked why these persons were not under investigation like his client. There were some big fish in that group. I'm sure the FBI would not leave rocks unturned. There were bribes and there were loans and bribes disguised as loans, Marchan gave the latter.

There is greed.
There is cronyism greed.
There is larceny greed.
All three types of greed have something in common.
They all involve the cover of, the kissing of each other’s ass.
How is the taste of ass in your mouth?
I for a fact will never know as I sleep peacefully at night.
People are mad and eventually some ass will be kicked.

Salazar's revealing comments about Magallanes is proof that, although someone may appear worthless, all people have some value and something to contribute to society.

The FBI has already gone through this whole Limas loan thing back in the day during investigation and prosecution. Magallanes was clearly found of no wrong doing. Why is Judge Garcia trying to plant seeds of half truths in the voters of Cameron County? Why can't he just run a clean race on his accomplishments and experience? Oh wait, it's because Magallanes's accomplishments and experience makes Garcia look incompetent. If you have to sling mud it's because you have nothing else to offer voters. If you have nothing to offer voters, you shouldn't be running!
