FAKE CURANDERO 8-LINER OPERATION RAIDED

By Juan Montoya
As reported previously in this blog, an illegal eight-liner operation near the corner of FM 511 and Dockberry Avenue was at last busted by the Cameron County District Attorney's Office under its Operation Bishop program.
The DA's office was told about the surreptitious gambling den masquerading as a faith  healer's clinic under the name of "Curandero Amazonico" and a salvage yard.
When the investigators arrived, they found that the place was in full operation and that the owners were in teh process of moving the machines in a rental truck.
Neighbors of nearby Sunny Skies Subdivision had long complained about the heavy traffic that congregated at the site within sight  of the traffic on 511. They said that flower and pastry vendors would stop at the eight-liner to sell their wares. A spokesman for the DA's office said that this was one of the last busts under the operation and warned those operating illegally that the efforts to wipe out eight-liner arcades will not stop.
"This one had slipped under the radar by turning off the outside lights and keeping the place dark," said a DA staffer. "Tips from the public alerted us to it."

The Sherrif ought to clean the corruption at the Court, instead of wasting time closing down gaming parlors.

....that's because they have nothing else to do but raid gaming joints. !

Its actually not against the law unless an under cover or informant goes in and is paid over $5 in cash. Prizes when offered CAN exceed $5 as they do at Peter Piper, Chuck E Cheese, Dave and Busters and Main Event as well as Fiesta Texas and Ea World. The DAs office is unconstitutionally raiding the rooms without having been paid cash previously. This IS illegal and will bite the office in the ass sooner than later. He's taking a page out of Villalobos play book. Saenz was his "special" prosecutor for 8 years. ADAs are aware of this and you will soon see some of them quitting.
