How things change and yet they remain the same, don't they?
This morning Texas Democratic Chairman (and former Cameron County Judge and party chairman) Gilberto Hinojosa was seen discussing last-minute strategy with Cameron County bClerk (and Democratic candidate for county judge) Joe Rivera and his former law partner (and now Democratic candidate for 357th District Court) Juan Magallanes.
Now, granted, Da Boys look a little bit older and a little bit slower, but they have basically controlled the Democratic Party of Cameron County for the better part of two decades. But ehre has been a lot of water under that bridge.
Rivera originally announced he was running for county clerk and finish four decades of public service. Magallanes, fresh from having his named uttered numerous times by convicted 404th District Court Judge Abel Limas in hte Ray Marchan trial judicial corruption case, surprised everyone and announced his candidacy against incumbent Oscar X. Garcia. Garcia was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry.
And Hinojosa, fresh from his defeat at the hands of incumbent Republican county judge Carlos Cascos went off into private practice and then re-emerged as county chair to help former Pct. 2 county commissioner John Wood against Cascos. That effort was also doomed to failure.
Undaunted, Hinojosa sought and won the state chairmanship of the Texas Democratic Party.You'd think that Gilberto would be busy trying to marshal the forces to help Wendy Davis in her uphill battle with Greg Abbott, but he's baaaack!
Someone pointed out that it was curious to see that in both pictures Hinojosa is in the middle of things. Whether this will help thse candidates, or merely remind voters that it has been Hinojosa's hand all along that has sought to control the county Democrats?

i am a democrat but voted for Cascos ... he is a much more polished , well speaking individual who has the knowledge and ability to continue to move our county forward, a vote for joe is a vote for the old buddy system ... no more its over...

Who cares that Juan Magallanes loaned a crooked judge $30K? He got land as repayment. Juan Magallanes was never in Limas' court to get that special privilege like a lot of the other crooked attorneys like Oscar De La Fuente, etc....
I won't vote for Juan Magallanes because of his association with Gilbert Hinojosa, the carpet bagger from Alice, Tx or something like that.
Carlos Cascos, a republican beat GH because people were fed up with him. That's why Juan Magallanes and Joe Rivera will not win, because of their association with GH!
