HEB, MAJOR GAS COMPANIES GOUGING BROWNSVILLE?

(Ed'.'s Note: This is not the first time we've heard this. We remember in past years that several gas companies in Brownsville consistently set the price of gasoline in a kind of gentlemen's agreement between them to keep prices at an artificially high level. A Sinclair station that used to be at the corner of Central Boulevard and Boca Chica comes to mind. Recently, as gas prices plummet below $2 up the valley ($1.94 in McAllen), Brownsville's prices have hovered at about $2.10. If the gasoline we use in the Rio Grande Valley is brought in on barges at the Port of Harlingen, why the higher prices here? Simply click on the link below to see this is true. In the list beow, Brownsville stations consistently list higher prices.  http://www.riograndevalleygasprices.com/
Why is this so? Former city commissioner Ernesto de Leon has been to Hidalgo County recently and penned this letter to HEB executives.)

HEB Customer Relations Dept.
Attn. Ms. Wendy

As per our telephone conversation this past week, I am enclosing a Brownsville Herald newspaper clipping dated Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, 2014. This is in regards to the gasoline prices statewide showing our area being the highest in the state. I have observed that when gas prices start to increase up state we are the first to follow suit.
We are considered the poorest city in our state of Texas, nothing to brag about. The HEB Group along with the rest of the gasoline suppliers have been manipulating our gasoline prices and treat us as second-rate citizens.
I'd appreciate you bringing my concerns to the attention of your top executives.
Please let me hear from you as soon as possible.

                                                                                             Best Regards,
                                                                                          Ernesto de Leon

Greedy HEB. Don't you make enough money with all the food stamps that are spent at your 5 stores in Brownsville?

Harlinge does not have a port. The port is in Arroyo City. There is no refinery south of Corpus Christi and it is cheaper to barge the gasoline down the intercoastal than trucking it.

HEB.....remember when milk prices went up ? Well your excuse was ,because gas prices went up a few years back. Now that the gas prices went down, did milk prices and everything else go down? NO...........

The gasoline for Brownsville is offloaded at the Port of Brownsville, not the curbside Port of Harlingen.

Can someone explain to me why this area is considered the poorest in the country when there are many homes over $150,000 being built and occupied and luxury vehicles on the road?

Bunch of cry babies.

10:24 anony,
Probably because most of the luxury homes belong to RGV crooks and/or Mexican drug cartels?
