STUDENT KIDNAPPED, DRIVES CAPTORS TO WHATABURGER

Security Alert Notification – February 3, 2015

Campus crime alerts and timely warnings to the community comply with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

Reported Offense: Aggravated Kidnapping

The TSC Security Department has received a report from the UTB Police Department regarding a crime that occurred on campus and TSC is providing an security alert to TSC  students, faculty and staff.

On Tuesday, February 03, 2015 at 9:55 a.m., The UTB Police Department received a report from Brownsville Police Department regarding at UTB student.  The student reported that he was forced at gunpoint to take two suspects a male and a female from UTB Main Parking lot, located at University Blvd adjacent to Lincoln Park, to nearby Whataburger Restaurant which is located at International Blvd. off the expressway. When they arrived at the location, the suspects released the victim without harm.  Both suspects entered a black sedan and drove away from the area.

The suspects are described as two Hispanic individuals in their mid 20’s:

Male suspect about 5’10”, dark skin, black hair, 5 o’clock shadow wearing black long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, black belt with silver buckle, carrying a black semiautomatic pistol.

Female suspect about 5’6”, brown hair wearing black jacket, blue jeans and no shoes.

I remember going to college at night and around 6:30 pm in the Fall months if you paid attention to detail you could see males and females mixing with the students going to class in between the north and south buildings. Most of the time you could see these people carrying a small plastic bag, barefoot, sometimes wet but since they tried not to get the attention of the student body, they would just walk along the pathway and mix with the rest of the students.
