Did you hear about the new policy that was put in place at the Brownsville Independent School District about board members' access to Superintendent Esperanza Zendejas?
Apparently, board members thought they could just waltz in announced and touch base with Espy on any given number of subjects. The custom has been going on so long that it was the natural thing to do if you just happened to be passing by the Glass Palace.
Well, this ain't your grandma's BISD anymore.
Rather, it seems to be Grampa Joe Rod's BISD now.
The new rule on access to the Super is that there have to be at least two board members requesting a meet with Zendejas or before she deigns to see them. We're not kidding.
Just ask Cesar Lopez and Minerva Peña.
Both are said to have walked in announced and were told in no uncertain terms that the Super was not available to see them unless they followed the new edict.
We call it the new Joe Rod Closed Door Policy because a Joe se le sirve aparte, and no we're not talking about soft foods.
Joe and Espy were seen yesterday having lunch with board secretary Pat Perez at the Mi Pueblito Restaurant. There was not another board member in sight.
How did Joe get to have an audience with Super Espy without the required second board member?
Now, the fact that state education law specifically says that Peña – as the board president – is the board's liaison between the members and the super might be a sticking point with the new dictum. How, for example, will the board's meeting agendas be put together if Peña has to have another member with her to see Zendejas? But, apparently, that has changed.
We understand that an outraged Peña confronted Espy and demanded to know how it was that she could not see her but that she could meet (and dine) with Coach Joe without the required second board member.
Grampa Joe is special, we guess.

That just does not seem fair. But whom ever spotted Joe Rod alone with Super did not look well, Chirinos was there too. He was under the table working to get his special favors. That is the reason why Joe Rod had a big smile on his face.
Bitch fight?
Gittin' intrestin.
Could this be one of the reasons why a national search for a superintendent wasn't done?
Espy should relent. After all, Minnie is big enough to count for two.
Shit starter....You seem to forget this is a free country...she can have lunch with whomever she pleases. Lunch is NOT work related!
Joe Rod is as bad as Pat Ahunmada and Bob Sanchez. Trio Los Gachos! Aha ha ha aha ha ha
Coach Joe and Zendejas are dating, and have been for a while. Look into it, JMon.
Chinga tu madre, Blimp. Die Buster, you fuck-up!
Hey, I just saw Joe Rod putting away a big fuckin stack of pancakes at IHOP. Probly used a BISD credit card, huh, Joe?
Sounds fair to me. There should be a system for communications and this sounds likely to end "special" communications with board members.
Now you realize why responsible citizens don't want to run for public office nor have anything to do with that .
Who is Joe Rod's wife? Is she the former Judy Rios who was a hottie back in the day?
Lunch was not work related ? Were you there to listen in ? If any other board member was to do this same thing, it still wouldn't look right. Keep it Clean, ALL OF YOU!!
Keep Joe Rod's wife out of this. She's deceased and he happens to be a very good friend of our family. Some people have no morals. Lunch with the superintendent is NOT illegal.
What a bunch of assholes! !!
Joe not dating Espy, try new Faulk pricipal Benita. Wonder how she got that job!
Yup, but I thought everyone knew it.....
These mother fuckers need to be exposed, hope Minerva does it.
Joe is at the Roadhouse restaurant quite frequently with Zendejas . ......been an item for awhile now.
