In the end, neither federal prosecutors nor the state wanted anything more to do with convicted fugitive killer Amit Livingston.
On Wednsday morning, federal prosecutors dropped a charge against him of using interstate commerce to avoid avoid prosecution or confinement after a conviction. The hearing was held before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ignacio Torteya.
After seven years on the run fleeing from serving his 23-year murder sentence, the state said that part of the extradition deal with India where Livingston was hiding was that he wouldn;t face additional charges for being on the run.The feds filed had the charge of using interstate commerce to avoid prosecution or confinement after a conviction in 2007.
Those charges were resurrected by the federal government when they began the extradition proceedings just last year.
And while Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz was foiled in his attempt to grab the credit for the job performed by the U.S. Marshal's Office and the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) with the U.S. Dept. of State.
Unfortunately, the effort to take credit for Livingston's return doesn't stop with Saenz. In some news reports, Sheriff Omar Lucio is also quoted as saying that he and the DA's Office worked hard to bring the killer back to serve his sentence.
"We worked on it, and as you can see it paid off," Lucio told a local television station. “The individual that we were looking for… is now safe here behind bars here in Cameron County. He goes before the federal judge sometime tomorrow; we will escort him all the way to Huntsville.”
Prosecutors said Livingston served time for crimes he committed in India.
Well, thanks to the sheriff and DA Saenz, we can rest assured knowing that Christmas will be held on Dec. 25 this year and the planets will continue revolving around the sun because of their efforts.

The D.A. didn't cut any deal........under the treaty signed by India and the USA , he can't face new charges unless India agrees. Nothing to do with Saenz. Read much?

Why are you upset Mellissa Zamora and Luis Saenz????? Is it because Juan exposed the truth that you had nothing to do with bringing Livingston back to Cameron County. The only thing the DA did was promise not to prosecute Livingston or add any new charges from the state in order for him to be extradited. That was going to be done by whom ever was the DA at the time. It had nothing to do with Luis Saenz or anyone else. The US Marshalls made sure Luis signed the agreement to extradite him. That was the only part he did was do what he was told to do by the FEDS. Luis and Mellissa you were again caught in a made up fantasy in which people are fed up with.

The deal was not between Cameron County official and the Indian government, it was between the US government and the Indian government. Texas official went along for the ride, otherwise they would not have their hands on the jerk.

-Si la organización de chapo guzmán tiene la capacidad de hacer un túnel hasta lo que según el estado, es el lugar más vigilado de México. Nos debemos preguntar:
1.- Que seguridad tenemos, de que si el chapo quiere hacer otro túnel parecido hasta los pinos o al campo marte, no lo va a hacer.
2.- Si en la zona del penal, había cientos de guardias, cientos de soldados, y miles de visitantes entre funcionarios de gobierno, abogados policías, soldados, reporteros, etc, nadie vio los 130 camiones de escombro que debieron mover.
3.- Han presentado una moto, una carretilla, un generador y varias cosas más, pero yo no he visto herramientas más que una cierra eléctrica, se las llevaron? No las han sacado?
4.- En el video que pasan, solo se ve cuando se salió el chapo, 3 minutos escasos, deben presentar todo el video, para saber cuánto tardo en llegar los custodios?, porque no lo entregaron?, cuanta ventaja le dieron al chapo?, que reacción tuvieron los guardias? No hicieron nada, se metieron inmediatamente al túnel para tratar de impedir la fuga?. Que hicieron o no hicieron?
5.-Porque, si la procuradora y secretario de gobernación, habían visto el video, presentaron una foto del chapo rapado y rasurado, si en el video se ve perfectamente que esta con el pelo y bigote igual de largo que como lo arrestaron. No habían visto el video?
6.- Que seguridad hay de que ese video fue tomado el día 11 de julio del 2015? Se pudo fugar días antes y estaban esperando a que peña nieto saliera de viaje para dar la alarma de la fuga.
7.- Porque no han presentado los videos del despliegue de fuerzas afuera del penal, hay decenas de cámaras, y hasta ahora no han sacado nada.
