IS ERNIE JUMPING IN IF DOMINGUEZ DECIDES TO RUN? A RETURN TO THE BAD OLD DAYS OF PATRONAGE AND CRIME

By Juan Montoya
With all the talk (rumors) swirling around the possible announcement by at least two Cameron County commissioners to run for the position of county judge, another oldie but baddie has made noises he would run for the Precinct 2 vacancy that would result.
Yes, we speak of Ernie Hernandez, the commissioner who agreed to resign after he was charged with seven counts of official misconduct for his role in having the county hire his brother-in-law. He later resigned in exchange for having the seven counts dropped by Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz and got deferred adjudication on one count of coercion of a public employee.
Well, the year's probationary period on the deferred adjudication has run out and now we hear Ernie is telling everyone within earshot that he wants back in to his old seat.
As the rules go, both potential candidates – Pct. 2 and Pct. 4 Dan Sanchez commissioners – will have to resign upon announcement since they ave more than a year and one-half left in their term. That leaves the nomination of their replacement in the hands of county judge – himself an appointed office holder – Pete Sepulveda.
Now, many political observers say that Sepulveda appointing Hernandez is nothing short of political suicide if Pete decides to run to continue as county judge. But stranger things have happened. If you'll remember, the other candidate for Pct. 2 who got into the runoff with Dominguez was Leo Lopez. Why would Sepulveda not appoint him if Alex decides to git at a go for county judge.
Unless Hernandez is contemplating in convincing the precinct chairs to place his name on that spot in November 2016 for the general election, it seems unlikely for him to get the nod for the appointment.
The same goes for Sanchez's spot. Sanchez ran against Roberto Kornegay in the 2014 Democratic primary and it would be logical for Sepulveda to appoint him as Sanchez's replacement. But as we said earlier, logic doesn't really apply to county politics.
After all, who would have thunk that Hernandez would even contemplate running for public office after he was forced to step down for his misdeeds?

Looks like the Dumbokrats of old are rustling around in the bushes and hoping to continue to "fool" the voters of Cameron County. Me thinks that Gilberto Hinojosa is forming a "Coalition for Corruption".....Ernie Hernandez, Dan Sanchez and Sofia Benavides....all part of the old regime of corruption....to try to recover power. Can this happen...you bet. Because most voters can be bought with a good fajita or chicken plate, we have campaign by barbeque or by the good old "greenback". We have to hope that voters will open their eyes and try to find out what candidates might do, after the barbeque is digested. Ernie Hernandez and Dan Sanchez are fat ticks and will try to suck the blood (tax dollars) out of us. Dan Sanchez can't earn money as a lawyer and Ernie is impatient for access to the tax dollars. Corruption will ruin the county and Ernie and Dan Sanchez guarantee corruption.

Next we will hear from Tesla driving Jessica Tetreau that she is going to run for county commissioner because the Pope told her too when she was in Washington. Tetreau fits well with slugs like Ernie Hernandez and Dan Sanchez.

Whether you like Ernie or not, what that dick Luis Saenz did to him and his daughter was bullshit. Ernie at least fucking showed his face around work and tried get shit done for people. As for the daughter, rumor around the courthouse was that she minded her business and did her job.

It takes a mighty big club, to keep a hog away from his usual feeding trough.

When Dominguez and Sanchez file for the County Judge position at 4:45 pm on the last day of filing for a position, each of them will have their buddy next to them so he or she can file before the 5pm filing deadline. That would put them on the primary ballot, but it does not mean that Sepulveda would necessarily appoint them to the vacant position, but he has the authority to appoint whomever he wants. There are lots of folks vying for the appointment now, I am sure there will be many more by December filing deadline. Exciting times ahead!!!! I would suggest that some of your three readers that are always bitching about the elected officials get in the fray and file so we can bitch about them.

America’s richest and poorest cities http://finance.yahoo.com/news/america-richest-poorest-cities-132329709.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory&soc_trk=tw

yet, commissioners get so upset cuz they called them out on flaunting their riches on FB. they get the special treatment and invites because of the people. yes, they may pay their own way, but what regular person gets invites left and right.

Public Criticism comes with the territory, GROW UP COMMISIONERS!

Why do you think he's helping mASSo?

This is why Saenz MUST NOT be reelected! He has allowed the citizens of this county to be potentially victimized again should Ernie hold another public office. Saenz could have forever protected the citizens of this county from the likes of Ernie and Erin holding public office but he failed us all.

Saenz is not a solution to corruption, he's part of it.

Get off that synthetic weed...your your hallucinations are of grandiose portions. Erie and his daughter are both criminals who should have been put in jail for their actions.... Erin minded her business until she got caught.. Then she never showed up.. just collected a pay check... As for Erie he showed up everyday thinking he was untouchable which that dick Luis Saenz proved was true... But then again the county saved tax payer money on not having to feed them over at the county jail...
