Remember when the Cameron County Precinct 2 seat was vacated when Ernie Hernandez resigned and Alex Dominguez was appointed following his win over Leo Lopez in that year's Democratic Party primary?
Well, when Pct. 4 commissioner Dan Sanchez announced he was running for county judge, interim county judge Pete Sepulveda said he would not appoint someone "as soon as possible" as the law dictates, but rather he would wait until the primary results in the primary race for Pct. 4 before having Sanchez step down.
Dan Sanchez, meanwhile, is in a runoff with former Brownsville Mayor Eddie Treviño, who beat him handily 12,935 to 10,705, a 2,230 difference.
Sanchez and Treviño will face each other in a runoff on May 7.
Does this now mean that Sepulveda will appoint Ruiz to fill Dan Sanchez's seat as then-county judge Carlos Cascos appointed Dominguez after Hernandez resigned?
Many county observers had criticized Sepulveda for delaying the replacement of Dan Sanchez for more than 90 days when the statute calls for an appointment "as soon as possible" and said it gave the commissioner an unfair advantage over his opponents since he could wax eloquently on the public channel while his opponents had to campaign without that advantage.
He also enjoyed the perks of office like salary, a secretary, mileage, and travel at taxpayer expense while he was running for office.
Since Sepulveda said he would wait for the winner in the Pct. 4 commissioner's race before appointing someone to replace Sanchez, is that now going to be the first order of business at the next commissioners court meeting?
And if not, why not?
This brings out another possible scenario.
Once the county judge's runoff results between Sanchez and Treviño come in on May 7, can the commissioners court move to replace Sepulveda with the winner of the runoff since there is not Republican candidate for that office in November?
Sepulveda and Dan Sanchez will probably perform all kinds of legal gymnastics to try to prevent that from happening. If Sanchez loses he is out of a job. Sepulveda, meanshile, can just pack up his blueprints and go back to his $230,000 salary as Executive Director of the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority.

Sepulveda is a DICK! He is a party man, got his position by being a clone for the Party, and will delay any action on Sasquatch Sanches until the last minute. Sepulveda is a Party Hack and we can't depend on him for independent decisions.
Dan Sanchez is a joke.
Dan, as always, will do what's best for Dan. He will make certain he has a financially supportive landing place before doing anything. Pan dulce isn't getting any cheaper.

Pete Sepulveda is the one that helped Sanchez raise all that Hidalgo County money for Sanchez. Sepulveda calls the engineers and vendors to contribute to Sanchez. They both tell the vendors whatever they want to hear to get that money. They told them that Sanchez was gonna win without a runoff. The Sanchez brothers are still going around bullying people into supporting them. You do have a choice. Either support the Sanchez brothers or do not support anyone at all that is running against them, OR ELSE!!!! That is why Sepulveda the Sheep helped Sanchez. Sepulveda, with all that money you make, you should get a testicle transplant. We are not sure what the size of your balls are if you have any at all. But we believe that you have something.Trade in the marble size balls you have for some big balls.

Dan is a fool for listening to his "women" who tell him he has a chance. They have wasted his money and time by convincing him they knew what they were doing. Planes, semis, and ugly floats won't get you votes... they will only get you laughed at. $222,000 might you women, but it won't get you votes when you are that overweight. If you want to be a county judge, you have to look like one.
Both,Eddie and Dan are poor choices to represent anyone , much less the county . Eddie certainly has experience , at being unethical and greedy. Trevino is as much to blame as anyone for bringing the plague known as "United Brownsville "down on the taxpayers . Both are worthless . ....should do away with the county judge position , one less crook.
You really need to read Pat Ahumada's letter to the editor in Brownsville Herald March 2nd edition. He gave a great rundown of Eddie's character. Interesting that the Herald did not print it till the election was over, they are extreamly supportive of the little guy that really screwed around the City while mayor.
