(Ed.'s Note: Our intrepid seven readers have been busy clicking away in the streets of Brownsville, as these two email submissions can attest. The top is a roof top dog that was defending his home turf (or is it home shingles?) near the corner of 13th and Harrison streets. Passersby said they were startled when they heard a dog barking above them this morning just before the bus picked up kids from school. The do, apparently, has sense enough not to jump off the roof and at the people below. His fellows behind a fence are also fierce defenders of their yard.
In the photo below taken of the yard of the Immaculate Cathedral, a turtle dove suns itself in the warm light of gathering dusk. The sarcophagus above is dedicated to the memory of the late Aldous Marx, the first bishop of the Brownsville Catholic Diocese. Marx was appointed bishop here by Pope Paul VI and was installed September 2, 1965. Shortly after he was installed as bishop, he left for Rome to attend the meetings of the Second Vatican Council. While in Europe, he paid a visit to his native Cologne. It was there, that on November 1, 1965, he passed suddenly away after suffering a heart attack, aged 50. His body was flown back to the United States and buried at the Cathedral Church of the Immaculate Conception of Brownsville. He was bishop for less than two months. You often hear the cooing of these birds at all hours of the day. However, when the red-headed parrots start to fly around arguing at the top of their lungs in the palm tree tops, you can hardly hear yourself think. Thanks to our readers for these two unique Brownsville shots.)

Nothing but animals in Brownsville. Worst are the two-legged ones. Border vermin!
