PORTER H.S. ON SOFT LOCKDOWN, THREATS FROM A CLOWN?

(Ed.'s Note: The Brownsville Independent School District Police Dept. imposed a soft-lockdown on Porter High School early today after students and administrators noticed that smoke was emanating from the air conditioning vents. Further inspection indicated that there was no fire and that the smoke was coming from a faulty air conditioning unit at the school. No one was evacuated and the soft lockdown was withdrawn shortly there after.

As if that wasn't enough, police were also called to investigate a mysterious email sent to some students over their cell phones purporting to depict a person dressed as a clown who has been said to have threatened students in upper valley schools. A picture being circulated among students at the school shows a small person dressed in a clown outfit at a distance outside of K Hall. BISD trustee Caty Presas-Garcia said that detectives were conferring with district administrators to see whether the cyber Internet threats and the clown in the picture were linked.)
