DEPUTY CONSTABLE RUNS OVER WOMAN PUSHING A BABY STROLLER IN LAGUNA HEIGHTS, DPS INVESTIGATING ACCIDENT

By Juan Montoya

The entire Cameron County law enforcement community is abuzz with the news of a horrific accident that took place Sunday night along Highway 100 in Laguna Heights where Pct. 1 Deputy Constable Jesse Estrada ran over a woman pushing a baby stroller and who had to be airlifted to San Antonio for treatment for her injuries.

Pct. 1 Constable Pete Delgadillo said that Estrada was traveling at a low rate of speed on Highway 100 at about 9:30 p.m. when he struck the woman. He said that the woman was crossing the road pushing the baby stroller. He said the stroller was not struck.

"She was hurt and had to be airlifted to San Antonio, but she is doing fine," he said. "Nothing happened to the baby."

Delgadillo said that the Texas Dept. of Public Safety is investigating the accident, but claims that proper personnel procedures were followed and that, as per county policy, Estrada submitted to a drug test. Other sources say he did not.

Delgadillo did not say whether Estrada was using either one of his two cell phones at the time he struck the woman.

Delgadillo said that all "proper procedures" were followed and that the deputy had been given a week-long leave to get over the trauma of striking the woman. He said Estrada helped the woman after the accident and remained on the scene until she received emergency medical treatment.

He also said that the unit had a camera and that the accident was recorded. However, he said that the recordings were to be handed over to the DPS for their investigations.

"DPS will have the accident report," he said.

This is not the first time Estrada has been in the news. During the trial of Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre, he was a state witness. Estrada used to work at the tax office.

When he testified against Yzaguirre he was already a deputy constable in Precinct 1.
Estrada made a complaint to the D.A’s office in June 2013. In his complaint, he described seeing Yzaguirre constantly meet with certain individuals privately.

“What was transpiring, I couldn’t tell you,” Estrada told the jury.
Yzaguirre was found not guilty on 11 counts of abuse of official capacity, 10 counts of bribery and one count of official oppression.

Why even put anything out there about the tax office and Mr. Yzaguirre?? Just to smear an innocent mans named again!! The red flag here should be here is that the investigation will be handled by a group of compromised incompetent individuals that botched the entire tax office investigation from the get go!! I know we will not get the full story and as with the Mary Tipton's case video evidence can and has been destroyed and tampered with!! Thank goodness this lady is okay. This deputy should not even be working as a public servant. He sexually harassed women when he was employed by the county. Estrada is a pervert and destined to fuck up!!

Shut the fuck up!! Yzaguirre was found not guilty. Get the FUCK over it!! Your lousy DA and the shitty investigation did nothing but shed light on the amount of incompetence that surrounded the entire investigation. Tapes played in court clearly showed that there was nothing going on and even the investigators told their superiors that there was nothing. Yzaguirre took NO bribes!! Quit being BUTT hurt over the fact that our DA and his investigators misused there authority and power because they had a personal score to settle and then tried to bring in other agencies to make it look more scandalous!! Get a life and put your brains to work before you blindly follow the evil doers!!

The county family of employees seem to protect each other and often someone who gets in the news for questionable actions, just moves to another position where it is hoped he/she will be "out of sight, out of mind". Estrada is just one. They Reyna bothers in the sheriff's office are two more. Even the former County District Clerk, Aurora de la Garza made sure her family were employed by the county; and even after her son Joey was charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a local hospice, he was given a county job under his mother's maiden name. For all we know he and his family are just some of the "county family"....

I'm sure the guys down the hall will thoroughly investigate and find the officer blameless.
