(Ed.'s Note: During Tuesday's meeting of the City of Brownsville Commission, the city issued a proclamation declaring Municipal Court Week. The proclamation said – among other things – that municipal courts were the most frequented forums by residents of any given city. That stands to reason since they handle everything from traffic tickets, animal nuisance, juvenile offenses, parking offenses, and just about every citation from the city's various departments.
While we don't necessarily enjoy appearing for one of their summons, for the most part the staff is polite and friendly given the circumstances of your visit. That's Chief Municipal Judge Robert Lerma holding the proclamation at center. Here's our tribute to the hard-working staff over at City Plaza.)
