DEMOCRAT CANDIDATES DRAW FOR A PLACE ON THE BALLOT

(Ed.'s Note: We'd like to thank Cameron County Democratic Party Chairperson Amber Medina for emailing us the ballot showing the places that the candidates to the disputed races will appear. It is a rule of thumb, often wrong, of course, that the candidate appearing first on the ballot automatically gets a 10 percent boost in the results. We've heard of this but have no empirical way to prove it. We prefer to think that it will be up to the voters in the end. The (I) signifies the incumbent. Good luck to the candidates.)

"good luck to the candidates?" is this the folksy Montoya standing outside Floyd's barbershop, decked in overalls and a twig of hay sticking out puckered lips? Good luck? Instead of blurting out inanities like "good luck" or "may the best man win" why not just tell a candidate "Why are you wasting your time" or "it's yours to lose, bro." What's luck got to do with it? Unless you're wishing for a unicorn to fall out of the blue sky and land on your opponent's head (which would be a stroke of luck) luck wishing to everyone is meaningless. When I hear a ref wish both teams good luck, it strikes me as a meaningless gesture that negates whatever luck, if any, is available for a weaker team to overcome a stronger one, which is why you would need a falling unicorn to begin with.

If that is all the Democratic party has to offer, with the exception of Dominguez, for the first time in a long time, independents and Republicans have a GOOD SHOT locally to beat up the same local PRI politiqueros on this side of the river. Nothing more than the same waste that has permitted Brownsville to be at the bottom of the barrel.

Why are ballots not printed with positions alternated to make it a more level playing field? I guess that would be asking too much right?

City candidates can not be affiliated with any political party PENDEJO.

Good list for law enforcement round up.

Yeah they can. They just happen to have won non-partisan races PENDEJO. But they can be affiliated and even serve the party.

We have non-partisan municipal elections in Texas because there is no Democratic way or Republican way of fixing potholes, fighting fires, or picking up trash. That’s the way it has been in Texas.
Many people are just plain sick and tired of the ugly, unproductive partisanship that results in nothing but government gridlock. Bringing that battle down to the level of cities will not make the lives of Texans better. City government should serve the interests of all our citizens, not the interests of politicians nor political parties.
In Texas during the election process the candidates can not specify (in all their advertisings to get elected) which party they are affiliated or represent, and (during official matters) even after they are elected to a municipal office.

Que se te quite lo pendejo y lo estupido.
