At one time she was the darling of the University of Texas System.
Dr, Julieta Garcia, the one and only president of the UT-TSC "partnership" which gleaned an estimated $1 billion from local community college district taxpayers over 21 years to build her Kingdom on the Rio Grande, has fallen on hard times. The years of battling in the halls of Higher Education, it appears, have taken a toll on her natural good looks.
It's no longer President Julieta. Or president of the short-lived Institute of the Americas. Or advisor to the Chancellor of the UT System.
All that, alas, is gone like the haughty look, the imperious stare, and the pretentious strut.
Now she's back with another money maker. It's a class she will teach to star-struck UT-RGV students called the "Rhetoric of the Border Wall." We have always been amazed at the bag of tricks this woman has thought of to continue squeezing the turnip for more money.
If you remember, at one time the UTB-TSC protested to the federal government that the standard issue border wall was, well, unaesthetic. It was unsightly. It's not that Garcia didn't want to help the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to guard our borders. It was that, well, the damn thing was just ugly. After spending millions of local taxpayers' money to subsidize the construction of UTB showplaces, it just wouldn't do to have that ugly things mar the spectacle of the Kingdom of Julieta.
So the UTB-TSC took the U.S. Government to federal court, and won.
And what did that victory accomplish? The wall would have to be built, the government conceded. But if you want to make it a pretty wall, well then we'll let the local yokels pay for it.
Agreed, said Garcia's minions.
And so the government has its Border Wall. Garcia had her pretty Border Wall. And the taxpayers got rooked again.
Rhetoric, indeed.

I love the campus and the fence is lovely compared to the rest of the border.
We probably have the largest campus facilities for any small town our size. It's mostly due to Dr. Garcia's efforts. It's not perfect as our campus is unsafe from illegal crossings. You see the border wall is nearly twice as tall as the fence along the campus perimeter. So if you are going to enter the country or smuggle drugs the fence along the campus is easier. Go figure. We have a beautiful fence at a cost of additional one million dollars and DHS didn't have to pay a cent for it as the university paid for it's own version of less offensive and BEAUTIFUL fence Now Border Patrol has to triple the surviellence along the campus and the university police have to respond to theft and illegal trespassing from the "coyotes" It was an unanticipated. Mistakes happen to the best of us. Illegals now have an easier entry point with plenty of restrooms and a easy target for petty theft and understanding students to feel compelled to not report them as they are afterall escaping violence. Unfortunately the violence follows the illegals too and it's just a matter of time before a student or professor will get hurt. Incidents like rape and theft may have already occured and not been reported as sometimes reporting just adds grief for the helpless victims.
Her interest at UTRGV is to "indoctrinate" students, not teach them. A class taught by her about the border fence will by a Snowflake Liberal presentation, which means she hopes to "indoctrinate" students....to be the anti-border fence "Pied Piper". Julieta is a "silver tongued devil" and will not encourage debate or critical thinking. Just as when she was President of UTB-TSC, it will be her way or the highway. She will use all the skills of deception and deceit that she learned from Mary Rose Kardenas over the years. Julieta is a taker, not a giver. So this "course" she is going to teach is the beginning of some other plot she has to get power for herself. Queen Julieta is the "Witch of Brownsville"....its all about her.
Juan, La Blimp is not getting the money for a run against Mary Esther! Was it fear that he would use it to pay bills? ???
Hey Juan, what's your daily unique visitor count like? We want to advertise..
Is La Blimp in our out? LOL
Pobre Julieta, she is so irrelevant these days that needs the spot light in her face again but the fence is old news, does she wants to fight the wall?
I remember standing in the hot sun in front of the federal courthouse waiting for her to tell us the outcome of the decision about the fence. I felt proud Dr.Juliet Garcia, our home grown girl, was the president of UT-TSC. I remember February 17, 2011 when the TSC Board voted to separate from UT, thank God for that.
Dr.Juliet Garcia was not in attendance that night. She had an important meeting somewhere. What could have been more important for the president of the college than being at that meeting? She was there, probably hiding somewhere or hanging from the rafters. I can not bear to see her or hear her name. That school out there on FM 802 that bears her name needs to be renamed. She conspired to give away TSC to the UT system leaving the community with the debt of the beautification of the campus for which she approved the overspending of by about $40M. No one respects Dr.Garcia. She is a joke to the field of education and a traitor to the students of our area.
DECEIVER!
What a waist a person who just wants her ring kissed as she walks the halls and thinks to herself what could of been. just stay home lady you started good but you ended in disgrace.
Wow, either she stop dyeing her hair or she has really aged. She really does not look like the Queen of TSC anymore. She surely has aged. I feel like auditing her class just to see
what she is about and what she plans to do with the response of the public to take that course. I can imagine it pretty boring! Pobre vieja, her days are over - hang up your gloves and let your son support you.
I had a class with her in Cummings and she hung around with whites and acted big shit and never spoke spanish. She still does...
waste or waist both are correct she has a 50 inch waist and is a waste.
Wow Garcia looks like crap, que le paso?
Well, Dr. Garcia abandoned UTB in the transition with UT-Pan Am, and as I guess we should have expected, the UT-Pan Am power brokers won all. What we have today is a UTRGV in Brownsville that is basically an afterthought, an outpost to the real UTRGV at Edinburg. Even the graduation ceremony for Fall 2017 was screwed up for the Brownsville graduates, families and friends. Notwithstanding the weather, if the UTRGV/UTPA people had really wanted to be fair to the graduates from Brownsville, they could have. But the truth is, they don't care and we have no one --- not Eddie Lucio Jr. nor Trey --- who will fight the powerful McAllen/Edinburg delegation.
The Brownsville campus is losing students. It is a joke these days. Thanks for nothing, Julieta.
