THE POWER TO TAX, AND GOUGE, IS THE POWER TO...

(Ed.'s Note: The house was full over at Tony Yzaguirre's Cameron County Tax-Assessor-Collector Office on the last day to pay taxes before penalties set in. More than one complained about the $5.95 "convenience fee" charged for using a credit card to pay for their property taxes. There is, the saying goes, nothing certain in life but death and taxes, so kicking and screaming county residents made the trek over to the new tax office in the refurbished county building in the old Wells Fargo Bank on Levee Street. The silver lining is that it only happens once a year.)

The Taxpayer SCREAMS AND SHOUTS cause we all know that money will not be used for the our benefit. The money will be used to fund someones nonsense ideas and PAY RAISES FOR THE ELITE.But that is just me one little TAXPAYER.

Are you sure you have your information right ? I believe the tax office charges a percentage of the total amount to be paid with a credit card for property taxes and fees ! Now the County Clerk Dept. charges the $ 5.95 convenience fee for filing & any copies in their office !

Everyone seems to bitch (including me) about paying taxes. But we seldom hear bitching from the people about how their money is spent or who it putting it into their pocket. These same whining people "don't just accept corruption, they demand it." If they want to save some money, speak up about corruption in Cameron Count government.

Why don’t you run for a position instead of just talking about it ... alot of hot air, no action

Many people have spoken up but it only falls on deaf ears.Ah PERO when elections come around TODOS LOS CANDIDATOS ANDAN DIEM SUPER MAMONES.But most will quickly forget all the promises they made or will not have the majority of the votes to change anything.

The can't tax the amount of sunlight, air and rain, but I can bet they're working on it.

The government agencies have a limit on how much they can tax or fine people. Down here the politicians always go for the MAX specially in Brownsville. The fines are to the maximum allowed by the state, the sales tax to the max allow, the traffic fines max allowed by the state.

The more money they raise the more pay raises the get. They forget that their job is to help better the area they represent. PINCHE PENDEJOS! And it ALL of them not just a few...

The other day I had to wait more than 2hrs just for a car title change WTF thats bullshit!!

Nombre Carnal that is the way it is done. That pays for the raises and the travel they get. Puro filet mignon e lobster on the taxpayer dime. And here we are the taxpayer tragando puro rice and beans. Poreso estan GORDITOS .BOLA de muertos de ambre.

The biggest taxing entity is the Brownsville School District and what do they do with the money. Advertise to get the kids back from the charter schools, then feed them bad Barbacoa and graduate them in order that they can take remedial classes at TSC. Their last tax increase of 11 cents per hundred just escalated their rate to over $1.25 per hundred. One of the highest in the State. Maybe Mike Hernandez should come in and correct some of this corruption. Now there is a roumor that the BISD Board President wants to move to where he can cause havoc in other boards because it is getting too hot where he is.

Highway robbery charging anything for using a credit card. Only the political idiots thinking they can get away with anything would continue to take advantage making credit card fees standard. Give us a break! Give them a few more years and they'll start charging tolls to use highways! Oh wait a minute. They're already charging tolls for the newer highways. #@&%!!

I can't believe you waited over 2 hours for a car title change. If you experienced a delay it was most likely an due to not having proper documents in order. The experience in the new building is much more pleasant.

The use of Sun light, moon light, air and wind will be taxed and added to your bill as enlightment tax. A 10 dollar fee per person per household will be added. If you complain the fee will increase by 25% the following year.

Believe it or not it's on the ballot in California for approval. Most Californians are in favor of this tax. LOOK OUT!!!

This enlightenment tax is solely for the use of top level administrators for travel and other important duties as apply. Only state, county and municipalities are eligible for the use of this funding, with the exception that in the future as it necessitates, to increase the use by other public servants.
