GOWEN SAYS MYSTERY CYCLIST/RECYCLER MAN OF THE YEAR

(Ed.'s note: This blurry photo shows the most wanted man in Browntown. Apparently, City of Brownsville City Commissioner Rose (La Chuisquiada) Gowen would like to know his identity to bestow upon him the coveted Cyclist/Recycler Person of the Year Award.

There was a sighting of the as-yet-unidentified – and potential awardee – cyclist/recycler on the Palo Alto Hike-and-Bike Trail near the Buena Vista Cemetery, presumably on his way to Wilkinson Metals to, of course, recycle the stash of aluminum cans he found discarded in various parts of the city.

Image result for rose gowen, brownsvilleIn declaring him the hands-down winner of the coveted prize,  Gowen issued a statement saying:

"This Brownsville resident exemplifies the result of what I, and other well-heeled progressive groups and committees in the city, have as our ultimate goal. Here we have an obviously healthy individual (Wellness) who is minimizing the carbon footprint by using a bicycle (Green), is contributing to the beauty of the city by removing unsightly litter from our roads and waterways (Beautification), and having then selling the aluminum (Recycling) so that it can be reused.

"The creative way of converting a mere bicycle into a utilitarian three-wheeled vehicle to achieve all these ends should be an example to all of us forward-thinking Brownsville residents. It is difficult to tell from this photo, but it does appear that he is wearing a safety helmet. And his shrewd manner of using the hike-and-bike trail is visionary, to say the least.

"Ideally, he should be wearing a fluorescent cycling outfit, but perhaps after a few more hauls to Wilkinson's he can go to Bike World and lay away a nice $400 outfit and join us on the county wide system of trials I envision for the area active trail plan. This photo is the culmination of all our efforts to use the city's millions to enhance the livability of  our city and promote the wellness of our residents. My safety helmet is off to the New Brownsville Man."

Unlike you, Montoya, Rose Gowen wants a clean city! Mugroso.

Montoya would rather have piles of trash and shit all over the streets. Go back to Mexico, Juan!

I've seen this guy around on the bike trails for years. He always says hello to everyone. He reminds me of my grandfather and my grandmother, who wouldn't throw away anything. Everything has value. My grandma would save bottles and jars and reuse them hundreds of times, they grew up in the great depression where you saved the sacks from the flour and corn bags to sew clothes for your kids. We used to get paid to return the glass Coca cola bottles, and they did add up to some money. Our wasteful culture today is unrecognizable to the thrifty and industrious Americans we used to be. The bike cans guy will outlive folks who are driving themselves into the ground, stressing out, trying to make more and more money to spend on stupid shit and Kim Kardashian wannabes maxing out the credit cards. He bikes around, says hi to people, going about his business, enjoying the nature. On top of that he is making our trails and streets cleaner for everyone. You are a jerk for making fun of him.

Such selfish behavior this really takes the cake. The good things of this world are firmly fixed in quantity: hence one man's gain must be another man's loss. You could only enrich yourself by impoverishing somebody else

Here we see the perfect example of true GREED in its best form. La chisquiada trying to bring acceptance of her ill will projects that are design to attract the elitist of this community.

SHAME on you and all your greedy supporters...

Million dollar trails to pick-up trash, way to go city commissioners, who cares about streets, drainage, stop lights, sidewalks, etc,

"NO TIENEN VERGUENZA"

More taxes for la chiquiada to use for useless bike trails. Grasping for straws, use anybody and anything to justify their use of "IMPUESTOS" to built more and more bike trails. No shame, no shame.

Do you think this guy will hang the award letter on his wall. He'll burn the stupid paper and sell the frame to wilkenson. But who will benefit? All for a photo op and a write-up for la chisquiada.

You really have no shame Rose Gowen. Using this poor soul to benefit yourself and your selfish supporters.

so, by this logic, if the city improves it's streets, the only reason they are doing it is because they want drivers of expensive Jaguars and Corvettes to have nicer streets to drive on, and no one else? That's how dumb it sounds. When you say the bike trails are being improved only for the drivers of expensive bikes. Every student who has a cheap Walmart bike who uses the trails benefits, it helps students get to class, avoid having to pay hundreds for parking tickets and permits, get back to the dorm, or even a guy who is making money picking up cans, they are mostly the ones out there using the trails every day. Alongside teens on skateboards, and people with no bike, who want to take fresh air with their family and kids.

You can tell the one person making nearly all the comments above was the losing opponent of Rose Gowen who has never set foot on a trail here.

Your idiotic comparison is flaud, you refuse to see the truth so you can justify your irrational and the reckless spending of useless trails. Roads are used by everybody in this community including visitors and tourists. Bike trails are rarely used.
Comments here are made by many posters in this community. You refuse to accept this is a very unpopular program and continue to shove this useless program down everybody's throat.
Where have you seen all these activities (China)? Cheap wal-mart bike? I now see who you are.
You can bet your useless bike trails there will be an opponent against this reckless and mindless commissioner.

Thank you Dr. Rose.

Buy a cheap bike at the pawn shop for $40 and sometimes goodwill for less. Trails are great they take you all across town for free

Deceased body found along a walking trail this happened in Fort Worth TX. Let's built some more walking and biking trails.

I just saw the state rep at a local elitist bike shop. Motorcycle cops need to start patrolling the bike trails for biking while intoxicated pedalers.
