THE COUNTY JUDGE RACE DIALOGUE HEATS UP: DEMS VS. GOP

By Juan Montoya

It's Nov. 6, 2018, and there are 74 days left before the Nov. 6 general election.

By now, in most other election years, the Democratic party candidate and the Republican challenger would already be at each other's throats through newspaper and television ads reminding the voters of their past sins and peccadilloes.

But in today's age of social media, candidates are finding that using it curtails their campaign costs and reaches a more diverse audience than they would with conventional media. And they hope that those social media consumers will turn out to vote come November.

Meanwhile, the advent of social media has introduced the proxy candidate supporters who are ready and willing to diss their candidate's opponent, simply because it costs nothing to post something on their facebook accounts or on other blogs and websites.

Anyway, the cyber trash talk is on in earnest, and everything is fair game in the days leading up to the Great Encounter in November.

A Cascos supporter was reaching for this type of "trash talk" when he sent us a photo saying that Cascos' opponent, Eddie Treviño was getting "trashy" by placing his signs next to trash cans in Combes. You figure that one out.

Such was the  case recently when Edward Vincent Barron, the son of Cameron County County Clerk Sylvia Garza-Perez took on the Carlos and Hector Cascos tandem.

He was answered by Cameron County Republican Chair Morgan Graham and Carlos before his brother Hector chipped in. Both Sylvia and her son are avid supporters of Cameron County Eddie Treviño for his reelection.

The "dialogue" follows:

With all the discussion of election security....we never heard the county's resolution to the computers with voter information that ended up in the pulga. While local officials surely want to keep that under their carpet...some of us remember that we got no answer as to how those computers with all that information ended up in the pulga....now if any action was taken against anyone.

I also wish he had run against the Lucios, but will vote Cascos he did a good job

The Lucios are a pox on all our houses. Cascos v Lucio would have been one for the ages

That Barron is as stupid as his mom. Sylvia hasn't learned to stay out of others people races.she needs to heed to Erick Garza District Clerk way.

Hey Juan what’s in the second picture?

Wrong Party to be associated with Mr. Cascos. Blue Wave you know. Many folks are still pissed you left to Austin when you hadn't even warmed up your Cameron County Judge seat properly. By the way, thanks for handing the football off to Sepulveda. No, it has not slipped the mind of the electorate. At least not mine.

If he were to run as a republican any other place in Texas he would "LOSE".

My beautiful girls are doing great, thanks for asking . No ,I'm still behind in child support but that doesn't stop me from spending quality time with them. Now as for my mom pulling strings for me you're very misinformed. My mom would turn me over to any law enforcement immediately .

Your anonymous attack are as funny to me as your horribly put together comment. Enjoy the rest of your weekend !

Love ,
Edward Vincent Barron

Edward has a great point in his statement if you ask me. However Mr. Cascos dodged, ducked, and dived all of his questions. In a GOP like fashion (we all know he's really not a true Elephant), he refracted his questions and brought up a never ending problems. Mr. Cascos, the same problems persist at a municipal level or even at federal level: taxes, fiscal accountability, infrastructure, and public safety. Most challengers would engage in explanation to gain a vote and not perform a sweep of the hand attempting to "shoo" someone off. A reply such as that should bring one to think if the candidate already feels like he has won his race. Nonetheless, was Austin too much work?

What questions are you referring to? Where? What the hell does he have to do with federal taxes? Fiscal accountability flourished under him and as for public safety and infrastructure everything good that happened under Sepulveda and Treviño happened because of Things decided and provided for under Cascos. He never dodged questions even if he knew people wouldn’t like the answer

Behind on child support? Hmmm! I'd stay off the blogs and just stay under the radar. You could easy become a tenant at the county hotel. Easy!!

10:02 read the last sentence of Edwards’s post, that question, the one that wasn’t answered. Good lord no wonder why Barnes & Noble won’t come down, reading comprehension Ievel: I don’t know what the hell is going on (kind of like our politics, go figure).

Right now voters want someone is who "not misogynist, not racist, not bigots. The RGV appeals to the higher values of the people. The RGV will not stand for a dog-whistle. It is utterly disgusting what the republican party now represents.

Eduardo, why do you keep running from getting served? You don't spend time with your girls so stop lying. You're nothing but a loser!

Anonymous said...

I guess the republican party candidate for cameron county judge stands for what the republican party now stands for.

Can't believe the great Sylvia Garza Perez, County Treasurer condones her son not paying child support! Great job Slyvia, what kind of an irresponsible son have you raised?? And hidding to avoid getting served??

Anonymous said...

From a reliable source , The great senator Sylvia Garza Perez is hiding her son in the basement of the Alamo . We are on to you and will be sending the Texas Rangers to check out this lead .

Anonymous said...

Gubernatorial candidate Sylvia Garza Perez is said to be hiding her son at her La Feria mansion . It is rumored that her son uses the underground tunnels to avoid being served . We have also heard from a creditable source he may be fleeing and Sylvia is paying for an Uber to drive Eduardo to Hawaii .

Surely the Texas Ranchers will know who's violating the law here. The mom and Edward. Poor child or children!
