BEST of LUCK to ALL.
I don't know any of them on a personal basis but I did vote for All of them as being the best choices from what was available.
I hope it means NO MORE "coach" Rodriguez and all other cronies.

My best wishes to the new board members and challenge them to live up to the promises they made on their own. It is so ironical that in less than a
month Brownsville lost 3 women board members - from Oct 26 to Nov 15- which may have been a sign of their disappointment on how board members comport themselves, compared to them. These 3 ladies should be used as role models by the new ladies. Oh, wow, 5 ladies and 2 men on the board??????????? I can
only imagine how that is going to go, but since Drue, and Prisci promised to behave on their own, we can only hope for the best. History was made by the so called coalition in supporting this last election positioning 5 women on the board. Plato de viejas en la mesa derectiva sobre KBSD. Now who will become president - the dictator that is already on board. Que sal!!!!

And now for the most important item "YEAR ROUND SCHOOLING"

Some one needs to study the concept of year around schooling. The breaks will still be there for teachers. That was done in the 90's when BISD was so crowded and that was a way of fitting all the children in classrooms. The contract for them was the same one they had before for 12 months pay. A total salary for the year was divided by 12 instead of 10, so that the teachers would have a salary during their vacation time. If not, the teachers could have run to the unemployment agency to get unemployment compensation, so by having a contract to come back to, they were not able to apply for such. They used their own money to spread it around into 12 months.
Porque no les entra eso a todos los mensos que siguen con la misma!

It's NOT ABOUT YOUR wages its about the children to learn more. Always defending your stupid salary. bola de babosos

I hear that on pay day all they (teachers) do is try to balance their stupid budget. What a waste just like the three months off with pay.

Yes, you are right about teachers trying to balance their check books, since this profession is the lowest paid compared to other jobs. A truck driver earns more than teachers and teachers are being constantly attacked. The only reason you settle back some is because you don't know what you would do with you children if they were not in school. That is probably why you that complain about the teachers' vacation time is because you now have to worry about who is going to take care of your children. Teachers are not rewarded for their efforts by the state or the city. They are considered state employees but do not receive state benefits like full insurance. A teacher is in a profession that prepares children for any other profession, so why does everyone know them down? Yes, there are some teachers that have no business in the profession but that is where you come in helping identify who and why so that they can be "retired" ASAP. But the majority of teachers are true professionals and smart enough to meet the many needs of each child. In elementary you must be responsible for about 25-30 students but in all subjects. In high school you have about
150 total students in 6 classes but with specialized advance learning. Please don't generalize all teachers by one bad experience you had as a student or now having as a dissatisfied parent and moving them to charter school only to come back to BISD within the same year.

So move on if you can't balance your budget or is it because you "VALUE" your unearned 3 months vacation with pay!!!

True professionals ha a true professional would NOT accept three months vacation with pay, specially paid by tax funds. Oh I forgot its in the contract - The only ah profession with three months off with pay in the WHOLE UNIVERSE Oh its in the contract 3 divided by 12 minus 3 equals 9 plus whatever...

A "TRUE PROFESSIONAL" will work 12 months out of the year "NOT" "9"!!!!

You BOZOS should be paid like a part-timer not full time salary...OH it in the contract so sorrrrrrie

a calendar work year that limits teachers to 181 work days. Most Americans work 245 days per year meaning teachers get nearly 13 weeks more vacation time than the typical US worker. The days teachers do work the day starts at 8 and ends at 2:30 during that time period there are mandated breaks, non-teaching period and lunch. Schools are prohibited from demanding that teachers work more than those hours. That's only 6.5 hours per day so if teachers are voluntarily working longer that would be moving them closer to the typical 8 hour work day.

With light work obligations, pay greater than the average household income, early retirement and luxurious pension payouts teaching is undeniably a well paid occupation. An economic analysis reveals that teachers at government run schools are overpaid by 52% when compared with comparably skilled workers at corporations. This translates to taxpayers paying an additional $120 billion per year.

An expensive child care-provider, I pay the live-in maid $200 a week and these people complain. WOW 120 billion per year que verguenza
