Early voting in the City of Brownsville commission runoff elections lagged behind the May 4 by 1,490 not counting today's turnout, but not as bad as previous elections.
On Monday, the seven-day total (not counting today's) early vote stood at 6,315 compared to 7,806 for the eight-day period May 4.
It is unlikely that another 1,490 votes will come in today, but Brownsville voters sometimes surprise.
It's not like any record turnout is being broken. In May, the Cameron County Elections Office said that of a total of 90,887 potential voters in the city only 10,702 were cast, a dismal 11.77 percent. While not huge, it was much better than the usual 6 to 7 percent turnouts of recent past.
May 4's early voting total turnout was 7,806 compared to the election day total 2,435. That indicates that 77 percent of the total votes came in during the early voting period and 22.7 percent were cast on election day.
If the statistical tendencies stay the same - and unless the two-person runoff races are too close - the votes cast in the early voting period will decide the outcomes.
There are a few more potential voters in the runoff, the elections office indicates. They say that that number increased to 91,367 voters up from 90,887. If 10 percent of them vote in the runoffs, 9,137 will decide who manages the social, economic,legal direction our city will take and influence employment, health, and the assets and well-being of a city of more than 200,000 inhabitants.

And there was Roman driving around polling sites like he was somebody with important business. Brilliant maneuver pulling "Look, they're giving food!" Jessica into the boat with "Chicken Plate Charlie". Yes, as comically inept as it looked on the surface, it was even worse when examined in detail. We have to ask what ultra loser plan he has for Election day. I'll bet it will be a dozy. When asked who could possibly do any more damage to their political credibility than Michael Rdz, Roman's reply was, "Hold my Fanta". He couldn't even get the quote right. I haven't seen this much utter failure and incompetence since Dukakis ran. Dumbass, smothered in dumbass, with a dumbass wrapper, served with stale chips and a flat warm beer.
