The Brownsville Fire Department is now in full investigative mode into the arrest of a suspected serial arsonist, according to a local broadcaster.
KRGV Channel Five News reports that the Brownsville Fire Marshal’s Office is asking the public for any pictures or description of anyone who may be a suspect.
And the state is now getting involved; posting signs around the neighborhood asking for information on the suspect, or suspects, as well as offering a cash reward.
Today the Brownsville Herald reports that a resident may have given investigators a tip on the suspected arsonists' identity. (The photo at right is also from the daily's coverage by photog Denise Cathey.)
"Clementina Gordillo, who lives next to the units that burned, said she saw a man, whom she knows and identified, walking outside the units where the fire started. She believed he was carrying a container of gasoline. She said a few minutes later after she saw him the units were in flames.
“I was outside doing my laundry and I saw him carrying a container. I went back inside to my house and by the time I came out again the whole place was on fire,” she said in Spanish on Thursday."

Investigators had told media reps that the signature of the arsonist - gasoline-soaked sponges left at the scene - indicates that it may be same suspect that has deliberately set at least three other fires downtown.
In this latest fire between 9th and 10 streets on Monroe Street. The fires destroyed two homes amid criticism from neighborhood residents that the response time of the Brownsville Fire Department - only three blocks away - had been too slow and resulted in the total loss of the homes.
The fire has caused friction between the city administration and fire department officials, reports indicate.

Stop the bullshitt you're both to blame the city of Brownsville let it burn down. The city is to blame for not visiting All City departments if they meet or exceed policy and procedures the fire department is to blame for not being organized and out of shape Now give me the reward
Rewards are given because lazy pd investigators rather have people calling in with tips, then them going out and investigating themself. The whole fire administration should be removed and get qualified people. Start with the Chief and the bully, piece of shit, Marshall Daniel Villarreal. The biggest assh&le in the fire department. Removing people like him will improve the fire department 100%.
If you look closely at the pic, there's more water in the street/curb than the burned house. This is unacceptable and a disgrace. Chief should be removed and his people in command. Especially, that bully assh&le and piece of shit Marshall Daniel Villarreal. They city of brownsville deserve better service. Luckily, this time, no one got hurt or died. I have a fire hydrant near my house, and never once, have they bothered to give an inspection. But yes, they are very good at shopping at HEB for food. And they buy the best meats fuking assh&les.
I said it first I want the reward!!!
I don't buy it that there's a Jack the arsonist running around buring outhouses. Let a state agency declare that, then it will be believable
@7:39 You're reward will be a chorizo negro up your ass lol
