AND NOW AN EXAMPLE OF A BUS STOP IN ALL-AMERICAN CITY
(Ed.'s Note: There are no benches to rest while this mother and child stand waiting for the bus, and no shelter from the unrelenting sun or the gathering storm. Brownsville has spent thousands of dollars to send a delegation to Denver where they presented the story of their work and this city to a jury of national experts who – after collecting the hefty application fee – presented the signs they posted at the entry to the city.
Since the program's inception in 1949, more than 500 communities have been named All-American cities, including Brownsville. Concurrently, it has also been named the poorest community in the United States and today, the unhealthiest city in the county. So are we to believe that it is "All-American" to be poor and unhealthy and unable to provide the most basic amenities to residents like good drainage, mowed grass at bus stops, pothole-free streets and neighborhood sidewalks?
Or did we end up paying for a junket for city staff and those of publicly-funded non-profits to bring back a sign that says it is so? We are, it is evident, enamoured of signs like the ones that say that US 77/83 is now I-69E simply because signs attesting to that have been put up along that thoroughfare? A sign does not an interstate make, and neither does the All-America city sign really make it so.)

And the beat goes on
Put a bike trail next to it, and then you will have a shelter within a few days, ask Rose Gowan
Dumbass planner knows nothing about f****** safety. They should have sent somebody to the Denver Park department where they have 30 parks and in those Parks you can play any a lot of sports that you want $5 a year membership
I heard they are planning a trip to china with the Port commissioners as soon as the tax increases come in. Forget about bus shelters they are still trying to fix the motors on the buses that were filled with gas instead of diesel. There are about 8 buses they screwed up.. No shelters...
Zamora gives less than a shit about the BV people. She makes more than the city manager, why should she care?
san bene has some beautiful bus stops
its an all mexican city
You mean Brownsville has BUSES? I thought Brownsville was still using horse and buggy.
There's no funds left, the priority has been and will be bike trails, useless bike lines and Cylovias that hardly anyone attends. There's is more city employees participating incurring overtime during Cylovias than citizens.
What happened to the Mayors campaign promise to have bus service on Sunday's? Once elected, politicians usually forget about the promises they make. Brownsville most needed citizens need Sunday bus service, let's get them the service they need.
He's in DC and Mex City at the same time don't have time to keep promises typical politico, but he's still selling pizzas a 50 dollars a slice.
County OKs tax hike: Increase will raise revenue by 4.8% is that trip to china still on? What about the pay raises they have money now and the bridge??? Which is more important?
