CORDIALLY INVITED TO BOWNTOWN XMAS PARTY, IN SAN BENE

(Ed.'s Note: What gives here? Is it really possible that the City of Brownsville Commission is going to hold its annual Christmas dinner Wednesday, Dec. 18, in San Benito?

No, we're not making this up. They also invited - the Public utility Board, GBIC, BCIC? - no, junior, they invited the members of the Brownsville Independent School board (uh?).

We have put out inquiries on whose bright idea in city government decided to hire Casa Los Ebanos in San Bene to hold this Brownsville event, but so far, no one is willing to take the blame (or credit).

We are all for regionalism, but this, guys, is taking it a bit far, don't you think? If anyof the city commissioners or Mayor Trey Mendez is reading this, can you please explain it to the taxpayers why you're going to spend their money in San Bene?)

Nothing wrong with it at all, Montoya. MPO ring a bell. This year San Benito next year McAllen!!!

Multiple Purchase Orders (MPO) how to streamline and confuse the city finance dept. to issue a check. That's what this is about. Main speaker will be a surprise but we got a preview of who it will be. Hint 50...

San Benito is nicer than Brownsville.

Wonder how many violations of the open meeting law will take place? Who is paying for this party? Oh you and me!

I heard the COB wanted to put the xmas tree in san bene but san bene said NO.. I just saw the bus shelters in downtown san bene and they look great the only problem is they don't have any buses...

Give them the one that some one poured gas on the diesel tank and sent that idiot to san bene with the bus.

Where's that fed judge? Making a mockery of the law and the judge.

"Despite the federal magistrate's conditions on her bond that she remain apart from her to stay away from witnesses and victims, co-conspirators and co-defendants. Who could that be? Anyone at BISD."

I guess she figures that the judge doesn't carry any weight and she can do as she pleases.

Since the only thing our City Commissioners focus on is the Downtown development, we should have expected this to be in the Downtown. So, I guess if it can't be in our downtown....take it to San Benito. This makes as much sense as anything else our city government does. Other than Downtown, to them there is no other Brownsville. Their policies surely focus on Downtown, that's all.

When a previous mayor had meetings like this he would always have somebody waiting at the place designated to take secret pictures just in case. That's what this pic reminds me off.

Maybe Brownsville is just that bad in that they won't have their party here.

A good question would be who actually funds the PUB employee's Christmas party. They really go all out. Lots of food and drink. Expensive tejano bands along with an exaggerated amounts of big or high end door prizes.

Bosses get paid more than they are worth and regular employees get paid like federal agents. All of this while getting all city of Brownsville benefits and much better insurance than regular city employees.

Brownsville doesn't even have a place where our colleges can hold their graduation exercises. Someone built that stupid Event Center with no thought in mind. Leave it to McAllen to show us off in EVERYTHING!

I heard they want to move the zoo to the downtown area. Why there's one there already
