GARZA BIGGEST INVESTOR IN JUDICIAL RACES, ADOBBATI $0 (?)

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

The biggest spender so far in the contests for the two judicial slots is Myles Garza, in the three-person race for the 138th Judicial District, according to campaign reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission.

In his July 15, 2019, to January 15, 2020, finance report, he states he spent $65,360 and got a total in contributions of $29,681.

The next highest is Assistant District Judge Louis Sorola who reported spending $45,268 and collecting $44,750 in contributions.

The rest of the candidates fall in between these two. Gabby Garcia, in the 138th District race has reported spending the least with $19,327.67 in expenditures and $22,215.00 in contributions.

Unbelievably, of all the candidates, Sorola's opponent Ricardo Adobbati, municipal judge of Rancho Viejo, is reporting that he has spent nothing, nada, zilch on his campaign during that period.

How can that be?

On signage alone, he has had to have spent $10,000s. The TEC takes these reports very seriously and has fined some candidates for not reporting their expenditures correctly. There is also another red flag in Adobbati's report. He lists a Carlos Flores from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico as making a $500 cash donation August 26, 2019.

Image result for adobbati rolex watchIf by any chance Flores is a foreign national, this may raise the interest of TEC investigators. And given some of the deficiencies in his signs out of compliance with TEC rules, the suspicion arises
that the signs may have been purchased in Mexico.

This candidate also held a $500 per couple campaign fundraiser where the supporters were asked to bring their own empanadas. There is no mention of that fundraiser in report. Oh, well, we're sure he can pay any fine given the fact that
on his earliest signs - since replaced - featured a very obvious $15,000 Rolex watch on his left wrist. Later signs Photoshopped the watch to black.

According to the Texas Judicial Commission website, the five candidates for the two district courts (138th and the 404th) have reported that have raised and spent the following amounts.

Is Myles going to sit as Judge when they try his father on his drunkard charges? What ever happened to that? Under the rug? How can a lawyer with so little experience think he can now become a judge?
