Rejecting his attorney's plea for deferred adjudication, former Brownsville Independent School District board member Erasmo Castro received a six months in jail sentence probated to 12 months Thursday.

The sentence came after a lengthy - and controversial - saga for the charismatic gadfly who was able to turn a social media phenomenon (AKA the Cheeze) into a political force.

The sentence includes attending DWI classes and and the standard restrictions associated with probation. Castro was placed on community supervision for 12 months and ordered to pay a $550 fine.

Cameron County Court-at-Law No. 1. Judge Arturo A. McDonald, Jr. opted to require Castro to also attend  a victim impact panel. He will also be required to attend drug/alcohol counseling and submit to random drug/alcohol screening for a period of four months.
Castro resigned from office after Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz filed for his removal in district court after several residents petitioned for his removal from the board.

Castro is still a candidate for the Texas House of Representatives as a Republican in the November general election against Eddie Lucio III for District 38.

Just the same as the Scumbag Rene Oliveira got, you watch what Joe Public gets. It proves you have to be a Scumbag to get out of jail.

Why was the court able to address this so fast, yet the Oliveira and still the Judge Garza trials have not had such attention? It is who you know, right?
All deserve to be treated in the same manner! What ever happened to Judge Garza?

Parents and kids schedules aren’t aligned? Well, align them then. Have kids in class from 9 to 5 just like their parents and attend 12 months not 9.

Not only will that make it easier for adults to take them to-and-from school, but it will prepare kids for the rigors of the adult world.

The educational system must become part of the working class work 12 months NOT 9. RIDICULOUS AND ABSURD!

The neoliberal Center for American Progress and many others, for instance, suggests that synching the school and workday would better allow parents to meet their obligations to their children and that teaching students 12 months is the answer.
whether you like it or not its coming.
