Unfortunately, this particular community within the City of Brownsville are extremely independent and while local facilities provide living facilities, most of the "street people" don't like the "rules" in these places. Those on the streets are there because that's where they want to be, unless its is extremely cold or other extreme weather. Their independence is more value to them, because its is the only thing of value most are left with these days. To make satire of the homeless is pathetic Juan.

No its not estupido renting an apartment here is beyond the means of the majority and it weren't for subsidies this whole f'ing town would live out on the streets with the exception of a very few gringos and cocos which are their servants and maids....

The average rent for a one bedroom apt is 800 dollars plus 300 deposit plus 150 pub deposit while the average pay is 7.50 an hour which is 1200 a moth less 27% less for taxas which is about $900 take home pay. So you only have $125 for groceries. NO wonder they are building bike trails!!!

God bless these poor souls.
Lord only knows why they prefer their living conditions.
Appears a few may have developed drug habits with this lifestyle.
Maybe locking them up could cure the drug addiction and put them on the right track.
The Texas alumni are taking donations to help overcame one thousand plus homeless BISD students too.
Hard to believe BISD has so many homeless
But its multiplied by ten when you consider the issue of border immigration issues.
Gov. ABBOTT has started supplying homeless hotel rooms.
Wonder if his idea is working.
Maybe Brownsville could adopt the same program.
Maybe the hike and bike trails could be converted into a long trail of homeless shelters with showers and restrooms and hot food wagons.
Heated and air conditioned brick and mortar buildings suitable for permanent living with 24/7 hourly bus services.
Mail services, banking, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, beauty salons, police substations, churches and 24/7 counseling.
Might cost millions but could be the answer.
Make Brownsville a home for the homeless.

I just hope you're not an elected official nor intent to run for an elected office. We already have an idiot doing just that spending moneies as if was coming out of HER pockets (hint: bike trails)...

To make matters worst, some elected officials don't pay a penny on their personal homes due to"Historical designation " bullshit. Hope that these elected officials don't intent to run for reelection, they are surely not setting the example for their constituents and paying their fair share of taxes, leaders lead by example something that is not practice here in Brownsville.
