Special to El Rrun-Rrun
Chairman John Reed, who had vowed to hold the port elections anyway during a teleconference in defiance of the governor's declaration and placing the voters and election volunteers and judges in danger of infection by COVID-1, is singing a different song now.
“The well-being of our community is always our top priority,” said Reed through the port's PR machine, “and we need to consider all responsible steps to safeguard poll volunteers and the voting public. We are continuing to monitor decisions and recommendations across the state as we work together to protect our community.”
Hmmm.
Reed's defiance came in the face of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's disaster declaration moving the primary runoff elections to July 14. He faces local hotelier and economic developer/investor Julio Grana for Place 3 on he board. Tito Lopez faces anti-LNG foe Bill Berg, an engineer, for Place 5. Ralph Cowen, in Place 1, faces no challengers.
On the TSC side, Adela Garza faces Jorge Luis Sifuentes for Place 1. Alejandra Aldrete, Ancelmo Naranjo Jr. and Antonio Guevara are candidates for Place 2. Delia Saenz faces no challengers for Place 4.

Turnout in the BND and Texas Southmost College has been traditionally low because they're held in May. Does Reed know that moving the election to November in a presidential year will insure that the voter turnout in the general election will balloon the turnout and blow him out of the water?
We'll see how the voting on the board breaks down today.
Now, with thee perfect election storm forming before his eyes, se incara ante de la tormenta?

Still not convinced gringos will be gringos greedy racist bastards
We need to get Reed out of that position
He’s gotten way too comfortable and hardly works
He has given Brownsville job opportunities away to his white friends in the white town of Harlingen
We need someone who is proud of brownsville and is transparent in this position
Julio graƱa has my vote
Vote for change and transparency
No need for elections, just select the biggest crook and put him/her in office. That is the way Browntown rolls.
Wow, the Blue jean guy is back??? Where is he hiding these days? At Trey's?
De todos esos bueyes, no se hace uno. Get on your bicycles and ride out of town - go to Rancho Viejo perhaps?
