FBI, DA'S OFFICE PROBE $1.3 MILLION PUB, NOBLE INC. HEIST

By Juan Montoya

A sophisticated scheme involving the switching of bank accounts paid by the Brownsville Public Utility Board to Noble Builders has resulted in the theft of $1.3 million in payments for the construction of an addition to the PUB plant next to the Robin Hood main building.

Neither the Cameron County District Attorney's Office nor federal officials would comment on the ongoing investigation but a general outline emerges of the scheme involving switched bank accounts and the drawing of the money from the construction company's account.

The new Brownsville Public Utility Board’s Administrative Annex Building, designed by ERO Architects, is being built by Noble Builders.

The new building will be located adjacent to the existing Brownsville PUB Administration Building located on Robinhood Drive and is part of a $16,8 million building project started in January 2019.

An invitation to the blue-ribbon cutting of the new PUB Service Center was mailed to all current and former board members for March 23.

The general outline of the heist involved the surreptitious removal of the Noble Builder's account from the Lone Star National Bank to the Bank of America and then the funneling of $1.3 million.

No one is saying who set up the account there or who at the PUB approved the payments, but they did confirm that the heist took place.

Other sources say that the perpetrators have absconded across the river with the loot and that local and federal authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to identify those responsible for the  theft.

Calls to the DA's Office have gone unanswered, but sources there did  confirm the ongoing  investigation.

Trump has failed miserably. He was made aware of the virus last November and still failed to act. His presidency is over. So long, loser!

Obviously, all Democrats think Donald Trump took the $1.3 million. Democrats blame everything on Trump. But, he couldn't have taken it without the incompetent PUB management. Words like "incompetence", "ignorance", and "corruption" are words that describe too many officials in Cameron County, many of whom have never had an original thought. Money disappears, fajitas disappear and the local populace continues to follow their motto: "Ignorance is Bliss". Let's hope the federal authorities investigate and the thief/thieves, as well as the PUB authorities who have oversight of our tax dollars, are indicted and jailed.

It took insiders to pull this off.

I do think this is funny, ha ha funny because in the story it appears that the DA office had something to do with this. Fajita anyone like in 1.3 million dollars of them who found that deal? All the comments about the corruption in the county so where is the DA eating tacos?

I hope that Luis Saenz and the FBI don't drop the ball on this. Althought this is HUGE, it is small in comparison to the $100 Million + stolen by BPUB in the Tenaska fiasco. I hope law enforcement is not intimidated by the involvement of the Lucios (our public servants) and others i this. This has been going on far too long and the same incestuous group of "leaders" who have been pilfering need to be held accountable. I can't believe the FBI's anti corruption unit has not brought down this $16 million house of cards.

FYI, Eddie Lucio is on the board of Noble construction. That is how they get these huge contracts.
You should look into why Rene Capristan was fired from SpawGlass. He and SpawGlass were responsible for ripping off the
City Of Brownsville on the SportsPlex. For MILLIONS.

This latest scheme is reminiscent of the phantom bridge to nowhere, now nearly generation ago.the scheme involved some of the same politicians. They just love scheming and stealing with engineers and contractors.
I wonder if any of the readers still remember the details of that multi-million dollar fraud?.
