BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Award-winning author Rudy Ruiz, a Rio Grande Valley native, is winning lots of plaudits for his first novel, The Resurrection of Fulgencio Ramirez.

Nora Comstock De Hoyis, founder of Las Comadres Para Las Americas, said: “Rudy Ruiz’s first novel is told with wit and verve. Entertaining and dramatic, this novel will delight readers and leave you wanting more.”

Sergio Troncoso, author of A Peculiar Kind of Immigrant’s Son, said: “A romantic and sentimental tale, The Resurrection of Fulgencio Ramirez explores what bad choices and the ravages of time do to a border couple’s love. The many plot twists keep the reader guessing about that age-old question: Can you ever return to what you have lost in the past.”

Charlie Lovett, a New York Times’ bestseller and author of Escaping Dreamland and The Bookman’s Tale, said: “Rudy Ruiz perfectly captures the thunderclap of true love and the magical, terrible, and beautiful ways its storm plays out through the lives of his characters. A novel of redemption that will leave you in joyful tears.”

As a child, Ruiz lived in Matamoros and went to school In Brownsville. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Harvard.

His short fiction work has garnered several notable awards, including four International Latino Book awards. These came for his short-story collection “Seven for the Revolution.” He also won the 2017 Gulf Coast Prize for Fiction.

Ruiz’s short stories have been published in the Notre Dame Review, Ninth Letter, Gulf Coast, and New Texas. He now lives in San Antonio with his wife and children.

El Jerry le sigue coin su pro-Trump pedo -

"I was listening to a doctor who was explaining ratio theory to me and I was really excited when he described in detail the remarkable impact of reaching 200,000 COVID-19 deaths," said the president. "It will mean that if it hadn't been for my early and successful intervention, according to the ratio theory two million Americans would have been dead."

El Paya is now going full-Trump!

The only 2 media outlets worth paying attention to On a regular are El RRun RRun and the Rio Grande Guardian. The rest of them are either chasing ambulances, lap dogging the political criminals du jour, or sucking the collective Catholic dick.
While not perfect, they are always the BEST!
Long live independent media!
