FEAR AND LOATHING ON THE BISD ELECTION HUSTINGS

(Ed.'s Note: We shouldn't be surprised about the passions of fear and loathing associated with this election cycle of the Brownsville Independent School District, but we are. We are told, for example, that the Hyundai car being towed away from the early voting site at the Main Library on Central Blvd. belongs to Darrell Powers, brother of former BISD trustee Otis Powers, who lost to Erasmo Castro in the last elections go-round.

Apparently, Darrell was chugging down on a 36-ounce "mofle" of brewsky when he came dangerously close to Team Castro as he edged close to the sidewalk,  and then sped into the library parking lot off Central Blvd. The police were called and he was taped being led into the patrol unit and his car impounded.

No charges have appeared yet on then BPD inmate list. His car's windshield and rear window display yard signs for Minerva Peña and Daniela Lopez Valdez.

Then, as if that wasn't enough excitement and loathing on the hustings, Adan Salas, a convicted sex offender who got into trouble over an eight-year-old victim and has to register annually with the state as a sex offender, is figuring prominently in the Eddie Garcia campaign.  Garcia is a 30-year veteran of the BPD.

Yesterday, Eddie's sister – unopposed 138th District Court Judge Democratic candidate Gaby Garcia – did her best to cover the him from photographs (above). However, Salas has not been shy about voicing his support for both Garcias. But the thought of a sex offender hanging out around the entrance to a park where children might be present is concerning.

Much has been made of the fact that the so-called "criminal slate" of Castro, Frankie Olivo, Carlos Elizondo and Viro Cardenas have all had their run-ins with the law with Castro on probation, Cardenas with child support woes, his nephew Olivo pleading guilty to sexual harassment and stalking with a cell phone and taking a pre-trial diversion plea, and Elizondo awaiting trial for theft from the firefighter PAC.

"Ma! They're doing it again!"

What's a mother to do?

The trial of Sylvia Atkinson should provide another view into the corruption and greed that exists in Brownsville. It would not shock anyone that elected officials and individuals from different political educational organizations will be called to the witness stand. Could TSC trustee Adela Garza be called to testify regarding the political contributions for her campaigns solicited by Atkinson and her involvement in Atkinson obtaining a high paying job at TSC after being non-renewed at Rio Hondo ISD? What about the TSC president Jesus Roberto Rodriguez? Will Ismael Garcia, the former Rio Hondo superintendent, testify about Atkinson's alleged criminal activity in that district. How about Dr. Virginia Miller who also was non-renewed at Rio Hondo? Was Virginia an accomplice to the allegations against Atkinson or will she testify in exchange for some type of immunity? It seems that Virginia was possibly seeking redemption in more ways than one after her failure at Rio Hondo by becoming the principal at the Guadalupe Regional Middle School with the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville. How about Sylvia Hatton ftom Edinburg? She was Atkinson's "puppet" and was the interim BISD superintendent when the alleged criminal activity occurred. What was Hatton's involvement in the alleged bribery scheme with Pink Ape? Don't forget that the board agenda item had to have Hatton's approval along with the board president to make it to the meeting. It seems possible that Hatton was a co-conspirator in this scheme. As the testimony is given, will the hiring of Hatton as interim superintendent be exposed as the final piece of the puzzle from Atkinson in order to clear the way to unlimited bribe asking and taking? Was it decided that Hatton would be getting a cut of the bribes? What about Atkinson's allies on the school board? Should be interesting testimony from all.

Patrick Hammes is a joke. He thinks he is a union boss from east coast with ties to the mafia. Ask him how many of his former co-workers from Oliveira are members of BEST. None of the them are in BEST. Many of us Oliveira teachers saw Patrick as a mean and bitter teacher who did not care about the students. We had many good principals at Oliveira over the years and Patrick instead of working together with all of us would create problems and not want to work to help students. AOBE was always focused supporting teachers and helping students. When Patrick became AOBE president, the organization only focused on causing problems, not working to help students and teachers. When Patrick ran for re-election, he lost by many votes to Albert Alegria. Patrick, like the silly little boy who loses the game and goes home with his ball, left AOBE and started his own organization. If BISD employees think that Patrick Hammes is looking out for them as BEST members, they are mistaken. Patrick is only looking out for himself. Ask for an audit to see where your dues are going to. Perhaps to wine and dine BISD board members. Ask the state and national organization to audit BEST. He retired from BISD but wants to use his free time by causing problems in the district. Go away Patrick.

Even though Sylvia Atkinson's reign of terror has ended for the short term since she decided not to run for re-election or might be ending for the long term if she is convicted and behind bars for a long time, she still wants to meddle in BISD by assembling her slate of candidates. All these candidates have a connection to Sylvia. Eddie Garcia was appointed to the BISD board with Sylvia's blessing. Eddie reportedly is the nephew of the Cameron County DA's wife who was also chosen by Adela Garza, Sylvia's friend and protector, to fill the TSC board member vacancy. Now the DA's wife is running unopposed. This seems to be a ploy by Sylvia and Adela to build their base of support and protect Sylvia from prosecution at the hands of the Cameron County DA. Sylvia Atkinson is a close friend of Daniela's mother through Charro Days and Mr. Amigo. Many of their friends are die-hard supporters of Atkinson. One is the former principal at Hanna and others are retired Pace HS teachers, all heavily involved in these organizations. They feel that Sylvia was entrapped by the efforts of those who want to hurt her. Since these friends are too old and tired to be at BISD board meetings till 1 or 2 in the morning unless mimosas are being served, Sylvia enlisted young Daniela to run for the board with her guidance and perhaps some lessons in how to be corrupt. Since Atkinson was running out of possible candidates, she scraped the bottom of the barrel with Denise Garza. The connection here is Sylvia's control over Prisci Roca Tipton. Poor Prisci had to follow Sylvia's order to find someone to run. Prisci reached out to her family member who works in BISD as a clerk to find someone. Prisci's family member suggested Denise Garza, her former co-worker. Again, Atkinson took Denise under her wing to mentor her in dirty politics and corruption. Electing these three individuals will hurt the children of BISD as they destroy our district.

Wow. Is Sylvia using her brother-in-law Otis Powers' brother to attempt to scare her candidates' opponents? Talk about desperate. Denise Garza, Daniela Lopez Valdez, Eddie Garcia and Minerva Pena must be really worried. It was reported that Otis confronted Eddie in front of the library after his brother's arrest. Interesting since Eddie's sister, a district court judge-elect, was also seen shielding a convicted sex offender from cameras as she and registered sex offender were holding signs for Eddie. I guess Sylvia is more concerned with the BISD election than her own trial in fedrral court. How delusional.

For those BISD employees who think that Eddie, Daniela, and Denise will look out for us, think about everything Sylvia Atkinson did for us as an administrator and board member. Sylvia did absolutely nothing for us. These 3 will follow Sylvia's example. During Atkinson's time, promised substantial increases in pay as in other valley districts never happened and our health insurance did not become more affordable. Do not fall for any promises from Sylvia Atkinson's puppets.

Running for BISD board. Lets see. Denise Garza wants to get rid of the BISD police command team and replace it with the soon to be without jobs sheriff's department chief deputy, captains, lieutenants, and sergeants. Daniela is running so her dad Joey and his business associate who is the son of Henry Levier can get insurance contracts with BISD. Denise and Daniela were convinced by Sylvia Atkinson to run so they could continue doing Sylvia's dirty work and hand out Sylvia's revenge against those who did her wrong.

Poor Daniela. Her parents sheltered her from bad people by sending her to private schools. Now that she is running for office, she now rubs shoulders with felons and people with shady pasts. When we see her with her campaign people, you can see she is very uncomfortable. It seems that if it were up to her, she would not be running. Is Daniela running to see if she can make some money for her or her dad Joey. Remember Joey Lopez was the one who wanted raise in salary when he got elected as county comissioner. Daniela puts on a fake smile and seems phony when she meets with people that are not in her social circle.

You may think that all these people running for the BISD board would be getting endorsements from their current or former supervisors, individuals who know how they conduct themselves in a professional setting. The police rank-and-file or the Brownsville Police Officers' Association has not come out in public and endorse Eddie Garcia. None of the administrators from San Benito CISD have publicly endorsed Denise Garza as to her abilities to serve as a trustee for BISD. You would think that some of the senior management from JC Penney corporate would be singing the praises of Daniela Lopez Valdez as a potential board member, but they do not. Sylvia Atkinson might have been providing glowing endorsements to her 3 "handpicked" candidates, but she is preoccupied at the time with her corruption trial in federal court.

The three castles or palaces (city, county,BISD) where the elite residences reside are falling into hard times with the local peasants . Their large buildings, typically of the medieval period, fortified against attack(protesters) with thick walls, battlements, towers, and often a moat (parking lots) can no longer protect the elite.
Because of widespread sovereignty and the changes in the technology used in combating corruption, in such places, the elitist have adapted, so the sole purpose now is of making something grand and fancy to woo and intice the commoners. After the changes (electicity, cars, and other fancy gagets) the elitist have continue with their public corruption in their cozy citadels, mansions, castles or/or palaces. Their breach of public trust and/or abuse of position with their private sector accomplices have become a major problem in most sectors of the country.
The peasants pay taxes to the lord or noble, now called mayors, couty judges or other insignificant titles. Commoners can sometimes secure entry for their children into the colleges or universities and become acccountants, teachers or field workers. Serfs (illegals)are the poorest of the peasant class, and are a type of slave. The castles or palaces own the serfs who lived on lands surrounding the palaces or castles.
SOUNDS FAMILIAR? ITS CALLED THE FEUDAL SYSTEM nothing has changed!!

Instead of running so many Trump shows, why don't they show the Atkinson trial starting this coming Monday. She hurt so many of us and we would like to see justice served against her. She only cares about herself and everyone she can manipulate into believing her. They should televise her trial for all of us to see justice in action. But, now I hear that the connection with the DA is
very strong through the TSC venue, so let's see what happens. I wonder if Sylvia has learned her lesson? Watch get off scot-free and come back in some way to continue her shenanigans. She cares for no one except herself. Sit tight, Sylvia, and even though justice is blind, lets hope it opens it's eyes when it comes to all the wrong you have done to so many people.

Erasmo you have too much time on your hands. All these comments are you. Be a man and share your true identity. Oh wait you are not a man... You hide behind your podcast and anonymous comments. You are starting to sound like your best friend Jerry mchale. Making up your own stories and not able to tell from fiction to none fiction. The only desperate people I see are you and your puppets. Erasmo you will lose and Daniella will WIN!! Remember what Linda Castro said on her comment it will be worse next week... Only goes to show what extreme you will go to to make people feel sorry for you. Anyone running against these clowns take care. Because Erasmo, Carlos, and Frankie are not the victims these people are bad and will play dirty to win. They have harassed many times. We have seen 2 years ago when Erasmo. People are smart and know who you are as a real person. Just like people know the true Carlos and Frankie. Bad people will always be bad people. And Erasmo you are EVIL.

Expunged and sealed records can sometimes show up on criminal background checks. ... Since these databases are the go-to source of criminal history data for so many background check companies, sealed and expunged records will often still find their way onto a large percentage of pre-employment background checks.
For BISD criminal background checks are by-passed. Just look at the candidates!!!

Is bad what Darrell powers did, I do not agree with it, it was bad. The thing here, he is not running for office. There are candidates running for office with a shady past. I do not mention names as everyone smart enough should know who am I talking about. They criticized Mr. Powers for his behavior for the past two days, forgetting they have a bigger tail with shaddy past. Just vote for integrity and sometimes we have to choose the best of the two evils. Just my two cents.

Erasmo, has proven to be the biggest puppeteer of thrm all. He is playing everyone as a fool. He continues to use his puppets: Frankie, carlos, Coach Joe, Marisa, Miller, Viro and His ugly ass sister Linda. They have stolen, cheated and threatened so many. Not just the other candidates. But community wake up. They continue to play victims of their own lies and stories. Linda said that next week will be worse. Continued threats. Don't vote for these crazy lunatics. They will not do good for anyone. Time to vote for thd true candidates that will work for and bring the best for us teachers and the students.
