THERE'S ONE IN EVERY CROWD

  (Ed.'s Note: It was high time that a collection of art works by local artist Don Breeden got a nice exhibit at our local Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. 

Don has etched cultural scenes for the last 20 years for the annual Charro Days featuring charros, señoritas, and kids participating in the parade. But he also paints other topics such as the delightful fauna above. These are part of the more than 70 paintings on display at the BMFA. The exhibit will run until Jan. 2021.

Breeden told the Brownsville Herald that: “Since I do a lot of nature, wildlife artwork, I’ve been hunting and fishing and being out in el monte , so to speak, for as long as I can remember so almost every one of my pieces represents something that I’ve seen. It all relates back to nature somehow,” he said.

The artist said he has over 600 editions of his prints and the pieces exhibited at the museum are part of that group. They range from several years ago up to this year. If you get a chance to go, pick one up to hang on your living room or den. They're keepers.

“There is a lot of originals here too, limited edition, so these have been made over the last several years. Some this past year, some years ago, so it is a combination of both because I have so many,” he said.
