The wedding had been planned for months.
Since the groom was from Matamoros, they couple had to get an absentee affidavit for the bride to be able to get a marriage license from Sylvia Garza-Perez's Cameron County Clerk's Office. They plunked down the $82 for the license and set about to get a justice of the peace to perform the ceremony.
They made arrangements to be married through the office of Johnathan Gracia's JP 2-2 office.
Everything was set for the wedding to be performed on the boundary line between the U.S. and Mexico July 31, a Saturday. The couple dutifully paid the $700 he charges to perform weddings on the Gateway International Bridge and looked forward to their wedding day.
They waited for more than an hour and a half past the scheduled time for the ceremony and, instead of seeing Gracia strut up the bridge from the U.S. side, it was former district judge Elia Cornerjo with her hubby Leo. Not only was she not wearing her judicial robes, she also let them know through word and gesture that she was not a happy camper having to cover for Johnathan.
She was not in a good mood and she let them know.
The bride, who expected some kind word or advice from the august judge, a woman of experience, instead was left with a sour taste in her mouth on a day – her wedding day – that should be a cherished memory. Instead, it turned into a nightmare.
She then posted pictures her friends had taken of the event – complete with Elia's dour demeanor and less-than-casual appearance on her Facebook page – complaining of Gracia's unexpected absence and Lopez-Cornejo's wet-towel attitude.
Lopez-Cornejo's response was not long in coming after she posted her complaints about the event. The next day, Cornejo-Lopez called to tell he that because she had posted "cosas malas de mi en Facebook" she was not going to file her wedding license. "No te case. Yo no voy a dejar que pongas casas malas de mi y que me defames. Mis amigas me las estan madando. Muchas gracias que dios te vendiga."
"Yo solo puse lo sucedido el 31 de Julio," the bride responded.
So is the couple married? Or not? And can Cornejo-Lopez single-handedly void the wedding ceremony and refuse to file the filled out wedding license? The person performing the ceremony has 30 days to return the completed – and signed – wedding license to the clerk's office. If she doesn't, does that constitute tampering with a government document?
The clock is ticking. Will Lopez-Cornejo carry out her threat (or warning)?

I really feel for that bride and groom in every aspect. Kudos to her on slamming the fugly pig C@#$ on FB! But, knowing the fugly pig C@#$ like I do. You're screwed on getting your license because that' the way this fugly pig C@#$ acts. In her BIG world, she screws people over, they don't screw her, and I mean physically. Oh yea, if the Justice of Peace in this county make anywhere from $100.00 to $700.00 dollars performing weddings THEN THEY DON'T NEED A RAISE! No wonder sally gonzales doesn't respond to death calls and is never in her office! No wonder, Linda "NACA" Salazar performs a lot of weddings in a county building and office. How much does the county get for allowing them to conduct none JP duties? If this is a JP duty, then the county should make the money, period! Wake up little eddie trevino, pendejo! Chief Felix "EL Chapo" Sauceda-Bernal with his No overtime and Data Driven numbers and total misalignment Are major factors in the recent death of a female inside City Jail. Even after several Complaints to the administration, along with the City Manager El Rata Bernal about the shortage of manpower on the streets with as little as 6 officers on the streets they continue to look the other way stating that the numbers don't support more officers..
But yet Chief Felix "El Chapo" Sauceda and Commander Bill No Balls Dietrich still Demand and oder that two units be placed in the downtown area to monitor certain businesses!!WTF
What does this all have to do with the Females death inside City jail well lets begin;
1.Not enough Jail personnel on duty due to no overtime.
2. ONLY ONE Patrol Supervisor on duty and that supervisor must remain in the Office to conduct three In Person Roll Calls at 3pm, 6pm and 8pm as ordered by Patrol Commander Bill " No Balls" Dietrich..So where was the Supervisor when all this was unfolding stuck doing Roll call...The same Patrol Supervisor then must go and check the Airport to make sure the Officer assigned there have not left there assignment.

4. Allowing the Training Division to put 7 Officers in training all from the same shift...
5. Assigning Patrol Officers to Dispatch, City Jail, Records Division and Municipal court all in a effort to save money!!! At what cost??? So Chief Felix"El Chapo" Sauceda- Bernal can impress his lover City Manager El Rata Bernal with all the money he is saving$$$$$$ the city..
6. All these actions have placed Officers and the safety of the public in jeopardy!
Now with three huge law suits pending under the watch of Chief Felix El Chapo Sauceda-Bernal who has proven to be a total failure and is fixing to cost the citizens Of Brownsville Millions of Tax Payer Dollars due to his Incompetence and total Misalignment!

I BELIEVE THAT THE TEXAS FAMILY CODE STATES THAT THE PERSON WHO OFFICIATES A WEDDING CEREMORY 'SHALL' AFTER COMPLETING THE CEREMONY AND CERTIFING THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED BY STATUTE TO RETURN THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE TO THE COUNTY CLERKS OFFICER WITHIN 30 DAYS. THE CRIMINAL STATUTE INDICATES THAT THE OFFICANT WHO FAILS TO RETURN THE MARRIAGE CERTICATE COULD BE FINED FOR NOT FOLLOWING THE FAMILY CODE?????
