Two years after he was charged with three felonies involving an aggravated assault against his father-in-law, discharging a firearm at his house and being a felon in possession of a firearm, David Lee Hernandez, the on-and-off husband of San Benito City Commissioner Carol Sanchez gets off scot free.
The reason? Neither the victim nor his family would cooperate with Cameron County District Attorney's Office prosecutors.
And so, the moral to this story seems to be: You can get loaded at a fiesta, go after your father-in-law with a weapon that you – as a convicted felon – aren't even supposed to have, and then shoot at him and leave.
Two years later, partly because of his political connections through his mate, and because her family hid her father and the family wouldn't cooperate with the DA, he walks.

Hear the same David Lee Hernandez owes the city of San Benito over 3 thousand dollars in traffic fines and has not been arrested. Also heard the city Police have a standing order to stay clear of David and Carol.
