Yes all history is gossip because we never know if the people writing the history were telling the truth.

Great update on behalf of the unclaimed mineral proceeds heirs. This is our REAL South Texas history. Thank you so much Mr. MONTOYA. HIGH FIVE for Mr. Juan Cortina, a little late to recognize who he really was and stood for.

Interesting video of our local history. Please continue providing us with such revealing information on the history of our community. Good job.

Cortina was a character and a half. His intentions were noble, but his execution was criminal.

A worthy book on him would yield both sides. But, of course, we have books on the Texas white settlers that glorify their stinking asses, so...

The Alamo would have had a different ending if it had had a back gate.

Very interesting video and historical information. Mr. Montoya, you will never be able to change people's minds (local people). All we ever do is complain, call people names, but voter turnout is low, Mexican-Americans take the side of the American master; especially if they become upper class Americans (remove the Mexican part), we throw stones at the Matamoros people and yet, one or two generations ago our parents or grand parents came from the other side. Our state government just passed laws limiting the teaching of truth in history in our classrooms. They call it leftist propaganda instead of calling it TRUTH. At this time in our 21st century, there is NO MEXICAN-AMERICAN at the state and/or national level that can be said has a leadership role in our community. Our Mexican-American politicians are more interested in the "me, me, me syndrome", our local politicians, lets see how much I can gain out of this deal, the local citizens curse, complain, blame but fail to show up at an election, at a city or county meeting. Black Americans have kept the flame of Dr. MLK alive, we, Mexican-Americans and native Texans have failed The Juan Cortina, Tomas Canales or even Gregorio Cortez at the state level and Cesar Chavez at the national level, our flame and dream has extinguished, there is nobody that is willing to keep it alive.

With idiotas like yourself claiming (falsely) that all mexicans come from mexico, you are dead wrong, read the treaty of guadalupe pendejo... Tejanos were here before and after that treaty idiota. Por eso nunca se hace nada aqui!
Divide and conquer comes from within ourselves when idiotas like yourself make falsely claims. Go back to mexico and let progress continue. guey
