JURY CONVICTS CHAMBERS' ACCUSER ON TWO FELONIES

By Juan Montoya

Call it a case of poetic justice.
Remember when the Cameron County District Attorney's Office used Indian Lake Asst. Police Chief Alfredo Avalos to turn state's evidence against his boss Police Chief John Chambers and he ended up being named interim chief of the village?

Chambers, in a race for the 2016 Republican nomination for Cameron County Sheriff who actually won his party's primary nomination – was removed from the ballot and Victor Cortez, his opponent who came in second for the GOP nomination – replaced him.

Cortez was head of the D.A.'s Office Cameron County District Attorney's Office Public Integrity Unit (PIU), which just happened to be in in charge of investigating the case. He enlisted Avalos' help to get Chambers indicted by a grand jury.

It would be Avalos's testimony, which he provided Chambers' political opponent with full immunity from the D.A. 's office,  that resulted in Chambers getting 14 misdemeanor convictions of entering the wrong information in the Indian Lakes reserve officers' firearm certification documents.

Chambers appealed his conviction and showed evidence during his defense that each reserve police officer had, in fact, passed the firearms qualification practical pistol course that calendar year, although the calendar date and weapon serial number were not properly identified.

Chambers then ran again against Democrat Eric Garza, who won the 2020 general election.

Avalos stood to benefit from Chamber's ousting as Police Chief because, as the only other peace officer in the Indian Lakes PD, he would become the Police Chief by default. He actually did become the interim Police Chief for a short time.

After leaving the Indian Lakes P.D. Avalos landed a job in 2019 with the Bishop Police Department where he was hired on as a  lieutenant. But not much later, on October, 2019, a grand jury charged him with two counts of  Misuse of Official Information, both third degree felonies.

The information presented by D.A. investigators indicated that Avalos had twice – on October 20 – with intent to obtain a benefit and harm and defraud another, intentionally and knowingly, used the Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) to get information on two cars parked in the house where his ex-wife lived with her male partner. Other information indicated that he also inquired about the immigration status of the man's mother.

Today, after a one-week trial, a jury deliberated for  a short time, and returned with a verdict of guilty on both counts. Defense attorneys Ed and Sara Stapleton asked for the jury to be polled and declared the verdict unanimous.

Ed Stapleton requested 404th District Judge Ricardo Adobbati to render punishment and to excuse the jury. Ass. D.A. Stephanie Franke appeared on behalf of the state and made her recommendations as did Stapleton.

After careful consideration, Adobbati sentenced Avalos to three (3) years in the Texas Dpartmen of Corrections probated for four (4) years, to pay probation fees, maintain gainful employment, pay court costs within 90 days, a $1000 fine and a crime stoppers fee of $50 to be paid every month for the first 2 years of probation. Avalos also has to meet all standard conditions of probation.

When Avalos was named interim chief of the Indian Lake P.D. , he told the San Benito News that "Ability is nothing without opportunity.”

“I plan on using this opportunity to restore core values to the Town of Indian Lake Police Department,” said Avalos. “Once our trust is broken, our actions are rightfully called into question. Police officers around the country must hold themselves to the highest standards. We should always be guided by our integrity, pride and our community.”

Karma, it has been said, is a bitch.

He's In a Heap of Trouble -

Donald Trump filed a legal motion this week, arguing that, as president, he had the right to declassify any classified documents and that his continued possession of the material was based on “executive privilege.” A judge should have no problem dismissing both arguments. First, while a president can declassify documents, there is a process for doing so; at the conclusion of the process, the special classified tabs and markings would be removed. Yet the tabs and markings are still on the documents retrieved from Mar-a-Lago. Second, mere possession, much less declassification, of some documents, such as those marked OCORN, must first be approved by the originating agency. That doesn’t seem to have been done either. Third, a president—certainly an ex-president—has no executive privilege to hold documents that properly belong to the National Archives.

Finally, mere possession of these documents is a crime under some of the statutes cited in the affidavit, whether or not they are classified.

There is much that we still don’t know. But one thing is, or at least should be, clear: Trump is in a heap of legal trouble.

The White House is calling out Republican lawmakers who it says had Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans forgiven after they accused the Biden administration of giving out unfair handouts with its new student debt forgiveness plan.

Driving the news: A video circulated this week of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) saying, "For our government just to say, 'OK, your debt is completely forgiven. It's completely unfair." In response, the White House's official account on Thursday tweeted: "Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven."

(there, you ditzy dumbass)

Trump: "I want to see Biden in prison."
Biden: "Why does Trump want me to visit him in prison?"

Donald. I hate to be the one to tell you this but if Melania has been a little more distant than usual lately it's probably because she's the one who ratted on you.

Melania is young, she wants you in prison so that she can get a younger dude.

So they are both dirty 🤷🏻‍♂️ Chambers admitted to fabrication. He didn’t believe it was “material.” Nice attempt to spin the whole case. I suspect more indictments to come, maybe even on people in the SO.

We will give him immunity to be the state witness. Meaning, we know he is a guilty too. We will just get him on a new crime. Or they already had the new crime.

For those of us who are staunch Trump supporters the 🥔Vegtable 🥕mocked our Leader when he said "I've declassified everything in the world. I'm president. Come on." Can you imagine the 🥕🍆🥔 does not know or understand that Trump saved us. This is absolute proof that the Veggie is senile and he has no idea what is going on. Kamala is running the country...I want Trump back as president. I could never get enough of him. He can stay in the White House a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th term and when he passes away Ivanka can take over. God wouldn't this be wonderful!

Fourteen of the 15 boxes recovered from former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate early this year contained classified documents, many of them top secret, mixed in with miscellaneous newspapers, magazines and personal correspondence, according to an FBI affidavit released Friday.
Indict the SOB and sent him to jail forever. PINCHE TRAIDOR YELLOW BELLY BASTARED.

It was a tough one to spin for Trump’s water carriers across the conservative ecosphere, but they did their damndest to spin it, anyway. Here are some of the most feeble talking points they’ve been pushing since the affidavit dropped just after noon. The affidavit is cancel culture, So much for transparency, What about the surveillance footage?, Relax, it’s only paper, Why did the FBI wait so long to raid Mar-a-Lago?, What about Hillary?

Stupid racist republicans JUST DUMP ESE PENDEJO PERIOD. STOP LOOKING STUPID I KNOW ITS HARD FOR RACIST REPUBLICANS TO DO, ITS THEIR NATURE BEING STUPID....
y mayra que? otra estupida?

Hey, Trump -

This exactly is a prime example of the so- called South Texas corruption run by our corrupt leaders. Alfredo Avalos not once, but twice misused trusted information to benefit himself and harm others. Check the recent Edinburg ruling on the election fraud case of Richardo Molina, found not guilty of voter's fraud. His case just made a precedent in question because his defense attorneys used the Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, indictment for insurance fraud, as a defense for Molina. The Ken's Paxton Indictment was used as an issue presented by the defense as calling the "kettle black". Apparently, the Texas Attorney General was investigating the Molina's voter fraud case and the defense knowingly that Molina was indeed GUILTY of voter's fraud took advantage of past injustices committed by Ken Paxton to justify this wrong. Keep in mind that the Public Integrity Unit investigates corrupt POLITICAL leaders. Remember to cite the 2022 Edinburg former mayor of Edinburg case, Richardo Molina case when the Texas Integrity Unit is involved in an investigation. Let this be a lesson to our so call TEXAS political leaders that indicted individuals running for office need to be cleared of ANY WRONG DOING before being elected. We are aware that an INDICTMENT is nothing but a charge, not a CONVICTION, but make sure you are clear of any past injustices before electing this individual.

Why do you post comments unrelated to the story, Juan? Ignore the coco/hillbilly and the Trump derangement syndrome posters if their comments aren't pertinent to the story.

So we ended up with an incompetent sheriff because of Mamalos, I mean Avalos?, Stop voting like blacks on the Democrat plantation!

Hey Juan Angel Guerra! Mamalos needs a job! He'll be a perfect partner for Jim the cockroach Solis in your office.

The DA must have really wanted to bring him down. Over twenty years ago Harlingen police fired an Italian surnamed officer for cyberstalking. He would run the license information of pretty women he had seen or stopped out on patrol. Beyond what was necessary for the stop. Guy looked like Mario from the Donkey Kong game, but slightly taller.

Trump is definitely going to jail. In one of the boxes identified as highly classified they found a very sensitive item. The item was actually a gum wrapper from Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin thrown improperly during his visit to the U.S. in November of 2021 when he met with George W. Bush. Jail for Trump!

Baboso. A person who tells others what to do while telling them not to tell others what to do. Arrested intelligence.
