OLD STANDBY GROCERY STORE EL GLOBO CLOSES ITS DOORS

(Ed.'s Note: Say goodbye to yet another Brownsville landmark, El Globo Supermarket. You might remember that a Kroger's Grocery Store first occupied the building at the North Park Plaza, 800 N. Expressway 77-83. In-store specials are being offered until the stock and inventory is depleted. We asked workers  at El Globo what business would replace the store, but could not get a firm response. The management office were not able to answer our questions either. Whether you shopped here or at the local HEBs, El Globo was one store that was always open even during the major holidays. It was also a place where students and local residents could land their first job. It's always sad to see a business like this close and we wish its workers good luck in procuring further employment. Canned goods, groceries besides meat and fresh produce will be available on discount from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.)

That smell was the rotting blood that fell into crevices and was never cleaned completely. Soon to be replaced by a money laundering store front or ropa usada warehouse.
