(Ed.'s Note: Downtown merchants, shoppers and pedestrians were startled when a car allegedly driven by a drunk driver slammed into the west brick wall of the Charles Stillman House at the corner of Washington and 13th streets a little after 10 a.m. today. Police arrested one man and city workers erected the netting around the damaged area. Someone was getting an early start to the weekend. Or was it a carryover from yesterday?)

Save the bricks, very old fence, but the city of Brownsville want more downtown high end bars around market square. Who's fault is it? Grant money from Tanaka utility fee for bars?
With any luck, an asteroid will crash into entire, ill-gained property.
heh heh
Hail, hail the Drunk Driver.
🚗🍺
he was looking for la RATA..
CORREX:
"...when a car driven by an alleged drunk driver..."
Duh, there would seem to be no question that the drunk was behind the steering wheel.
Real progress
The 3 bars downtown are creating
how do you replace 100-year-old brick? Tragedia de primera, vato.
Let's see how long it takes them to fix it?
Were they historical bricks? Did Kino Camarillo built that fence?
Everyone in Brownsville drives around like they are all drunk,
so it be best to stay home and out of their way. Police can see
the reckless, noisy and loud driving and do nothing about it.
They see panhandlers at every corner even though the city has an
ordiance against them, and they do nothing about it. What do you
think will happen to the reckless driver? Nada!
Pink elephants on parade.
Have the drunk driver actually physically work in rebuilding the damage he caused. I would love to see an idiot at work.
Well the man the city use to hire to do this work and for the University has died. His brother is now too old. But Brownsville has a few master masons. The brick is the least of the problem. The brothers who use to do all this work were taught by their grandfather and father on how to mix the mortar starting with lime. The key is they could match the mortar to the original mortar from the 1800's or earlier because they started with old fashion lime.
Well we may have lost those master masons and their skills.

One has to wonder as to, "WAS THIS AN INTENTIONAL SET-UP", by Cameron County leaders to continue with their corrupt plan to steal, cover-up and continue with their set-up plans to build the PIPELINE? Afterall, it all revolves around the Energy sector. Remember that for centuries the State of Texas had ignored the heirs to large land grants their royalties' and has collected the royalties, bonuses and whatever proceeds from these stolen land grants for years, as their profit. Also keep in mind that Henry Cellar, Filmon Vela and Vicente Gonzalez all have their hands out to be filled with monies from the oil and gas companies when it comes to campaign contributions. What is evident is that for years since the oil and gas came into existence in South Texas, the land grant heirs had been killed, lied to, defrauded and persecuted by the Cameron County Judicial, law-enforcement and lawyers to steal their large Porciones. Well, thanks to God things are coming to a change and the corrupt leaders are all out of whack. What is interesting is that the land where this Stillman House sits belonged to Juan Cortina and now the heirs of Juan Cortina, not Charles Stillman.
They should hire the brick mason that did great brick work for the Palm Lounge. I know you've had a story about him twice.
