N.Y. JURY ISSUES TRUMP INDICTMENT: DETAILS REMAIN SEALED

By Dan Mangan
CNBC

A New York grand jury voted Thursday to indict former President Donald Trump in connection with a $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election, his lawyer told CNBC.

Trump attorney Joe Tacopina told NBC News that Trump is expected to surrender to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office early next week. Trump is expected to be arraigned Tuesday, according to Susan Necheles, another Trump lawyer. The former president is tentatively expected to appear before Judge Juan Merchan after 2:15 p.m. that day in Manhattan, two officials told NBC News. That is subject to change.

Trump is the first former president to be charged with a crime, a development that will reverberate around the country. The indictment comes as he is the leading contender seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

The office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg confirmed the indictment Thursday evening.

“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected,” said a spokesperson for Bragg’s office.

The number of charges Trump faces in the indictment was not disclosed Thursday.

And it was not known whether the indictment was limited to conduct related to the payment to Daniels or if it also includes conduct surrounding a separate hush money payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal by the publisher of The National Enquirer. Trump’s lawyers told CNBC on Thursday night they didn’t know the charges.

Trump was caught off guard by the news of the indictment, according to various media reports. He blasted the decision calling it “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.” Just Wednesday, he had said in a social media post that he had “gained such respect for this grand jury.”

The charge stems from the district attorney’s investigation into how the Trump Organization recorded a reimbursement to Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen after Cohen paid Daniels, who’s also known as Stephanie Clifford, to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter she says she had with Trump in 2006.

Trump is a corrupt person. He was taught by his father to be overpowering, to take advantage of others and to use his money and power to get away with everything. That is why people admire and like him: Trump is a glimpse to the poor of what can be done with money. Rich people are demanding, do not follow the rules and are very happy destroying the poor. The poor, we just survive in pain and anger.

Why do people always say its the democrats( or the Republicans )Thats just an excuse ,or someone to point the finger at. This is about someone( A PERSON) who possibly broke the law. And i say possibly cause everyone is innocent till proven guilty in our country. He’ll have his day in court and his chance to prove his innocence. Until then dont blame anyone but Trump himself. He got himself in this mess. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. He’s got plenty more cases ahead. And much more serious than this case. Like the saying goes: Every dog has his day , and its time for him to face the music. Thats all for now have a nice day!!

THE VIEW FROM THE PRESS -

la Repubblica

In the Italian-language newspaper la Repubblica, Paolo Mastrolilli outlines what may come in the days leading up to Trump’s expected surrender to the police. He asks if the U.S. is about to be hit with a wave of violence, or, if moderate Republicans will now rally behind a different candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

This is exactly why Democrats like black prosecutors. The real loser may be the district attorney who could be disbarred. This is the same district attorney whom Zeldin promised to remove if he had been elected governor. Bragg won't prosecute criminals who look like him.

Then this ignorant person interviews one of the most corrupt prosecutors. Weissmann put three innocent people in jail to protect a criminal informant named Whitey Bulger. Bulger was the subject of the movie Black Mass with Johhny Depp. The convictions were thrown out later by a judge.

In regard to the 7:59 comment, this bullying overpowering committed by the political party of taking advantage of the poor is not news to South Texas. This method of taking control of POOR victims is the way our so-called South Texas leaders, manipulated, intentionally, purposely, maliciously, and willingly stole the land that belonged to the true Heirs. To us Heirs its a win- win. This ISSUE sets a United State Precedent that No matter who and what political position our so-called South Texas political leaders now hold "YOU" will be prosecuted. This goes out to Filemon Vela, Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, Chuy Hinojosa and to all Corrupt South Texas political leaders, who are associated with the South Texas oil and gas companies. Oh let's not forget to include our Judicial System local Judges, for if it wasn't for their cooperation non would be possible. This is my opinion.

Hush money is nothing compared to the January 6th attempted coup, the "Georgia find me 11k votes " the stealing of top secret documents and the list can go on and on. Wake up people, it's about time he's held accountable for all the harm he caused our nation.

The Republicans fail to understand what has happened. Assuming limitations has not run, if the Republicans can show that then Vice President Biden helped his son Hunter commit illegal acts, the Democrats cannot say "oh he is president."

The door has been opened to prosecute Biden if illegal conduct can be found.

It is amazing to me how many people are making accusations towards the DA when they have not seen the indictment or even know what it is about, or any of the evidence.

Trump is innocent until proven guilty. If the judge tosses the case, or based on certain motions the court of appeals toss the case, Trump will be insured the nomination and will probably win in 2024.

If this is in fact all political as the Republicans say, then it is a win win for them. So someone please tell me he problem?

The problem is, Trump is going to use every legal maneuver to keep this case from going to trial and in the process make the Republicans looks bad. Trump's only motivation is to punish the Republicans for not reelecting him. He does not care if he destroys them.
