Justice Sonia Sotomayor summarized her dissent from the bench, a rare move that signals profound disagreement, and said that affirmative action was crucial to countering persistent and systematic racial discrimination.
“The court subverts the constitutional guarantee of equal protection by further entrenching racial inequality in education, the very foundation of our democratic government and pluralistic society,” she said in her written dissent.
Sotomayor wrote that the majority had abandoned principled adjudication.
“At bottom,” she wrote, “the six unelected members of today’s majority upend the status quo based on their policy preferences about what race in America should be like, but is not, and their preferences for a veneer of colorblindness in a society where race has always mattered and continues to matter in fact and in law.”
“In a society where opportunity is dispensed along racial lines, equality cannot be attained through race blindness,” she said.

She is the problem of this education question. If you are black and don't have the ability or qualifications to enter school or get that job, why should a person who is black get in because that person is black? Either you have the ability to get into that school because of your hard work and grades not because I am black. Either you have it or you don't have it.

Getting into college should have nothing to do with your race but with your high school grades.
Asians with excellent grades get rejected by the thousands in certain colleges because they need to give spaces for other minorities (with lower grades). That is reverse discrimination.

Affirmative action only benefitted the blacks in the majority of cases. For every 20 blacks admitted to medical or law school 1 Hispanic got admitted. So all these years the blacks got ahead more than the Hispanics did. How did Obama get in to Harvard? We were never allowed to see his grades at any school. Yet it was said that baby Bush got C's at Yale.Blacks got hired in police departments and other jobs being less qualified just to fill a quota. That was never fair. Get the best qualified not the worst candidate only because he was black, Hispanic or a female. Enough with the race card.

They can have an amazing GPA. But if because of the competition they are only in the top 12% of their class, the minority kid with a lower GPA, but in the top 10% of his class from a terrible poor school district, they will still get in before the kid who went to the best private school in Texas. It only has to do with race, because they live in a bad school district.
