The cartoon reminds me of the 70's when a local police officer was ticketing a Winter Texan at 11th and Elizabeth for parking in front of a fire hydrant while his wife went to buy those delicious ice cream sandwiches they sold at the Kress fountain. Beto asked the winter texan for his license and he read it and checked the lisence plate. He returned to the driver and asked him,
"How come you say you are from Chicago and your license says you are from Illinois?" That was the talk of the town in those days, but similiar conversation as that now.

When I was a mover/truck driver, a dark skinned chicano customs agent wanted to know why my tractor had Indiana plates and my semi-trailer had North Dakota plates and I had a Texas driver's license. Had to explain to the boy that the tractor was leased from the company in Indiana, the semi-trailer was property of the agent from North Dakota that also had an office in Pharr/McAllen. Because this Mexican(me) spoke better English than his sorry pocho ass, he also kept saying that I didn't sound like I was from around here. I'm sure many other Mexican güeros can tell you stories similar to mine. It's not just the white cops who hassle you, many times it's the bigoted dark meat chicano cops as well.
