WELCOME TO THE CITY OF BROWNSVILLE: BY INVITATION ONLY

(Ed.'s Note: One of the lingering results of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions seems to be the lack of access to City of Brownsville services or officials. One of our eight readers sent us this photo at the entrance to the parking lot of the Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau which indicates that visitors seeking information on the city cannot enter the building but must remain in their cars, or call the workers inside the building to get directions and/or information.

He said the same applies when you want to enter the administrative offices of the Public Utilities Board [PUB] or if you walk to City Hall and ask to speak with the city manager or other public officials in the old federal building. The guard at the door will ask if you have an appointment and if you don't, you won't be allowed inside. With the pandemic restrictions removed, isn't it about time to return to some sort of normalcy and allow the public to have access to its buildings, facilities, and its public servants?

We agree. A cursory security check for weapons to assure public safety should suffice to enter a public building. We hope this message gets through to the temporary occupants at City Hall.)

First and foremost THE PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER , we are just no longer at a global/USA health emergency level status anymore!!! (Look it up if in doubt ) In other words we are( thankfully) not in the same shape we were in 2020/2021, but the virus is still continuing to mutate and infect. So please stay alert , especially with the elderly and those with underlying conditions. That being said, YES Covid has affected the workforce globally and has changed it dramatically. But Ofcourse locally it seems like our local entities have continued to milk the covid restrictions for as long as they can . Just trying to reach someone by phone at one these entities takes an eternity. So just like our fearless leaders always looking to take advantage of a situation these places are also taking a page out of the playbook and are doing the same. Enjoy the rain and have a wonderful day!

It's very common everywhere to do business like this. Communication via drive up is very convenient too. And there are security issues as well. And so many employees are working remote from home or working out in the field.

YOU NEED TO MAKE APPOINTMENT. BECAUSE, THEY ARE WORKING FROM A REMOTE LOCATION/VACATION.

BUT, IT SHOULD BE THE SAME YOU WANT A PAYCHECK, GET YOUR ASS TO WORK COB LAZY.

Why does COB still have employees working from home? They all should and must be required to go to work in person. I often see city employees who supposed to be working from home during duty hours at heh or Walmart. Get your asses to work and earn your paycheck as we the taxpayers are paying your salary and retirement.
