CREDIT WHERE CREDIT'S DUE: CITY'S PRICE RD. WORK IS GREAT!

(Ed.'s Note: For a week we complained of single-lane traffic lines on the stretch of Price Road betwen Paredes Line Road and the frontage of U.S. 77-83, or I-69E as City of Brownsville Public Works crews laid down asphalt on that heavily-traveled strip. But the frustration and inconvenience to motorists was well worth it when the result produced a beautifully-surfaced road worthy of any private contractor. Everyone we've spoke marveled at the quality of the work and the short time that it took to do it.

Compared to the private contractors who took months on the improvements on Boca Chica Blvd. from Four Corners to the expressway, this was done in the blink of an eye. Credit mus be given where credit is due. Congrats to the COB asphalt crew! Keep up the good work, carnales!)

And in 6 months PUB will be tearing up the street for something that was not coordinated to take place during construction. The incompetence and stupidity in Browntown is rampant. You are all idiots.

The crew works where they are send and they do a great job. Los hanchos need to survey where the traffic is at and than FIX the problem without paying for favors!!!
political favors seems to be the first on line all the time.

We need better roads: not caliche, not dirt, not asphalt but concrete or stones.

It would now be great if someone with high power would travel on Lincoln St.
from International to 22nd street. This road is being used as a short cut to the southmost area and is traveled immensely by speeding people who love to make their donuts at the corner of 22nd and then have to zig-zag around the potholes that are constantly being "repair" with a small fill up of asphalt that is gone within 2 days. Avoiding these pot holes is better than the obstacle course than the one the dogs use for competition on TV.

BUT, we have some pretty paved bike trails not even 1% of the citizens use -
not even la chiscada Gowen. Also, clean up the resaca in the area. The city argues it belongs to Tex Dot and vice-versa. I laugh when they come cut the grass and actually stop mowing in a particular area because it belongs to someone else. The only wild life we see now are snakes and leeches cause the beautiful birds that once beautified the area have left for another part of town. The only other wild life I see in the area are the hobos or panhandlers who actually have matresses and a fully furnished living room in the middle island on the resaca. Come on, keep your promises that you made when begging for votes and do you job Mr. Brian Martinez. Keep you eye on this neighborhood for horses, roosters and even pigs that
people keep in the neighborhood. Se salen!

HAS ANYBODY HEARD ABOUT "P O T H O L E S"?

9:11 Brian Martinez is too busy attending gala’s for dogs, unveiling of murals downtown and other useless functions that don’t benefit the citizens or alleviate the real issues/problems( the ones you mentioned plus street repairs , debris/tires in the alleys, flooding , lack of police, etc) plaguing the city. This new commissioner seems to fit in perfectly with the other useless/ self serving bunch of so-called elected officials. What a joke!! And watch out cause here come the holidays and all the parties, galas, posadas, and other celebrations to showcase their talents (picture taking, grandstanding, deal making, consumption of free food/spirits etc etc). Must be nice !!! Note: there’s nothing wrong with celebrating, but do so after you’ve done your job and fulfilled the promises you all made to the citizens of Brownsville.

@ 9:11am go out and do it yourself. Citizens need to start doing their part too.

ISN'T PROPERTY TAXES ENOUGHT? WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

Anonymous said...

I live only a few blocks from this price rd and I am happy to report, what a fine job the people who did this job. Only think I would like to say, it took 45 years to get this road paved?

5;30 - do you not pay high taxes and fees for these services like I do. And at 78 years old, I actually took my weed-eater to knock the grass that grows around the ghost bike at 18th and Lincoln, the trees, the poles and the edge of the sidewalk that helps accumulate water, because our elected officials do not have the time to supervise what is being done. I was told by a Tex-dot worker he couldn't do it cause that belonged to the city and for me not to do so cause I was going to get fined. Can you imagine that? Oh and I also will welcome your help when I am trying to clean up the area. Or, you must be one of those who gets more for doing nothing but collecting everything that is free. Shame on you!
