(Ed.'s Note: Coming on the heels of the inaugural A-Toast-To-Tail Gala to raise funds for its pet shelter, the Brownsville Regulation and Care Center November 4 [BARCC] reported that some $30,000 was raised, and announced that in the last two weeks its staff has performed between 30 to 40 surgeries to help pets in distress. Incidentally, the Nov. 4 date signifies the 213th anniversary of the birth of Brownsville's founder Charles Stillman in 1810. On hand during the gala, his descendant Alexander Stillman accepted the gratitude of BARCC organizers to his departed mother C. Brown Stillman who donated the seed money to establish the shelter.)

We need a person that donates the seed money to establish a program for the City where people get a cat or a dog and they follow the rules: take care of the pet forever, do not have more dogs or cats, and do not let them roam the streets of Brownsville.
These surgeries, these pets in distress: mostly caused by bad owners.
This situation can get worse if Brownsville doesn't work to establish a NO KILL shelter and making pet owners responsible for their pets.
" My dog escaped" and never goes to find the pet.
"My cat is gone" and never tries to find the cat.
Plus the evil doers that are always doing bad things to cats and dogs.
Teenagers that steal cats and dogs JUST to throw them at the City Limits, people that abuse animals etc
Shame on Brownsville for not solving these issues.

We the declared true heirs to the Brownsville land that is mentioned here know for a fact that the true founders were not the Stillmans. This whole Brownsville land belonged to Juan Cortina and his family not these thieves, the Stillmans stole the land while using the Judicial system to grant him the right to steal the land. Juan Cortina's grandfather was Don Salvador de la Garza who was granted the entire Brownsville area, he had a deed to the land grant, dated 1821, making Stillman only 11 years old, way before this thief Stillman was even living in Texas.
