That differed from the account that Sheriff Eric Garza posted on his FB page, giving his deputies credit by saying that "she was immediately restrained by jail staff without further incident."
Sheriff department sources say the Brownsville police were immediately notified because members of the sheriff's administrative team were busy participating in an elementary school presentation while members of the CCSO SWAT dance team were entertaining clients at a local adult day care center.
We first reported a social media report that a female inmate who escaped from custody of her Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies at a Brownsville hospital had ben caught by Brownsville Police Department officers.
Now the truth is revealed.
After the female inmate gave them the slip during a visit to a Brownsville hospital and, made a run for freedom, it was, apparently, the rent-a-cop hospital security who alertly chased her and nabbed her.
According to KVEO, the inmate was being held at the Carrizalez Rucker corrections facility in Olmito and attempted to escape custody while receiving medical attention.
In a post following Garza's assertions that his people had caught her after she was able to give the the slip, an eyewitness contradicted his version.
The sheriff's department said on social media that additional charges are pending. And the SWAT danced on.

This article is very biased and not all truthful. If BPD has an incident like the CCSD had, other agencies go support including the sheriff department. BPD takes combative inmates that they can not handle at city jail to carrizales for support. Any one that catches the escapee will hang a medal but an escapee is all agencies responsibility to catch. You are so biased that everyone knows you getting paid brother.

Bad shit can always happen when you deal with inmates (criminals) and jails. Thats why it’s important to have a well trained-fully staffed team at all times REGARDLESS OF WHO THE SHERIFF IS !!! A competent and experienced sheriff will make sure his team runs like a well oiled machine. The problem begins when the person in charge (sheriff) is way over his head and when they allow politics to take over. It won’t work if the sheriff is constantly looking over his shoulder on a daily basis because he is clueless on performing his duties. The inmate escaping is just part of working in such an environment. It could happen anywhere. Thats why the importance of being well trained and alert at all times. These criminals are always looking for any little chance or opportunity to continue breaking the law. In closing, every sheriffs administration has gone through incidents like this and it tends to give a black eye to the department. Unfortunately in Sheriff Fifes administration , the sheriffs department looks like Rocky Balboa after going 15 rounds with Apollo Creed. Just saying. Good day

Every Sheriff Department has had a share of riots with numerous gang or group in a county jail setting to try to control. Stop the bullshit. Sheriff Lucio and administration had a lot of issues. Many occured in his tenure with a lot of lost evidence to make him shine. It appears this Sheriff shares the good and bad incidents. Not something any elected officials have done. This Sheriff is being transparent which is great. Inmates will try to be disobey which is the reason why they got arrested. The inmate at hospital was not out of site for that long. Inmate was found immediately. Ofcourse nobody can elaborate medical facts of inmate. I guess facts can be manipulated to please a blogger who is supporting the opponent. Vote wisely.
